I would ask your doctor/s what the infection is. Or are they more into the hit and miss game they usually play if you are in the UK? There may come a time when you are strict with them and ask for an accurate assessment regarding the PCR test. I believe that can detect infections that no other tests find in urine.

My experience with doctors and urologists is that they either do not listen to their customers and as said would rather play about with the hit and miss theory. Their word for the hit and miss theory is 'empirical'. = their idea of dishing out tablets due to their experienced evaluation. = not good enough and not scientific but cheaper than what should have been done.

I may well sound as if I am disgruntled with urologists but I have valid reasons for my writings..... in earlier posts I wrote what a special evaluating A&E nurse said to me --- my dad had a catheter in for 3 months he did not need so don't get me going about urologists!

I told one doctor -look I feel I have an infection and it's not the first time I've sensed I need antibiotics.... his remark was he would give me nothing till he knew what and if I had an infection..... he did nothing to follow up his remark. It must be noted that I saw blood in my urine that antibiotics cured with no thanks whatsoever to him and many others like him.

Hi Shelby, I think I am confused...can you clarify? A bacterial bladder infection(which most are) get treated with anti-biotics...yeast/fungal infections are NOT treated with anti-biotics...antibiotics for ANY reason can commonly cause vaginal yeast infections as they change the flora(kills good bacteria keeping fungus/yeast in check)...so did you start with a bacterial bladder infection and end up with a yeast infection somewhere???TY🍀☮

Metronidazol ( fungal infections) and Ciprofloxacin ( flouroquinalone antibiotic) can be prescribed and taken together. If Cipro causes C Diff the metronidazol kills off the C Diff but taking those two together prevents the C Diff

It appears that some prescribers do not know or are aware of that but in 2001 taking the M and C together was normal.

Some would say that was a 'belt and braces idea'

It is known that for the ulcer causing bacteria 'pylori' often two or even three different antibiotics are administered.

Opinions by doctors often differ and some are clearly wrong.

Is it any wonder that a professor stated that 1 in 6 patients are misdiagnosed? He added that this figure may well be the 'tip of the iceberg'.

This is a pitiful outcome when lately the NHS is carrying out such valiant work and absorbing all the dangers those carers are subjecting themselves to. They are very dedicated people and they deserve much more protection than they are receiving.

Hi M, I really wanted a more specific description of her condition....I was confused as she said her symptoms were thought to be a YEAST infection to start with & THEY gave her anti-biotics, then switched her to another anti-biotic, when she didn't get better...a yeast infection wont get better with anti-biotics, it could actually get worse...that's why I asked if she had a bacterial infection and got the yeast infection later...yes, you can absolutely treat with BOTH types of meds, they are two different infections and need 2 different types of meds, these infections are commonly linked to each other...I dont know why Drs wouldn't treat BOTH esp.. if its common...thanks for your comment as others may not be aware how it all works and sometimes you end up treating multiple conditions that occur from treating something else...TAKE CARE & BEST WISHES💒🌈🐾🎶♾☮🍀
