UTI and d-Mannose options?

I'm looking into taking d-Mannose to help heal my UTI along with the Cipro. I started the Cipro yesterday evening.
I read that you get just the d-Mannose powder to mix with water, or there is also a commercial liquid product with d-Mannose and a fe related ingredients (don't want to list brand in case post gets moderated) and it seems to have many excellent online reviews by patients.
For those of you who have tried either or both, what do you recommend?

You mean on top of all these other symtoms, UTI's are common too??

I've heard that they can be common in peri. In January, I thought I had one, but the tests were negative for bacterial growth. This time, unfortunately, that is not the case. But I'd never had one at all until now and also just had a sinus infection earlier this month... never used to be this susceptible to infecton.

Hi Carol, I have plain Greek yogurt every day. With Cipro, you can't have calcium with the medicine unless it's with other foods that don't have calcium because it can reduce the effectiveness. The pharmacy information says to take it 2 hours before or 6 hours after having something like yogurt, and the pharmacist highlighted that when I picked it up. But I know the yogurt is important for the probiotics.

Elizabeth, I would just perhaps check with the pharmacist that taking these 2 things together won't interact. xxx

I decided to put in a call to the clinic to find out whether Ecoli is involved. It sounds like d-Mannose can help that, in tandem with the Cipro. They said a nurse will call me back. You're right about checking first!

I was given d-mannose by my doctor as well as taking my antibiotic, he said it helps dislodge the bacteria, I took it but I can't really say whether it worked or not because like all UTI's antibiotics kill the bacteria. Just my thought.

Thanks! I have wondered about that. In reviews I've read, it seems like some people have relief right away with just d-Mannose, while many others took it while on antibiotics. Not sure there's any way to know how much of a difference it would make.

I've decided not to try the d-Mannose. I'm following the Cipro instructions to the letter and will let it do its job! Hopefully, things will be much better this time next week... it's a 7-day course, 500 mg twice a day... I don't want to interfere with it in any way.
