2 monthes ago I had a really painful uti worst I ever had I had this new symptom of gut wrenching pain with the uti. I never had that pain before with one. I was told it was a stone lodged I there interfering with my urine but they won't remove it just waiting for it to pass while I get a uti every 3 weeks. I have had 3 so far and cipro really did something bad to me I shake now uncontrollably sometimes and it stopped working. 2 days ago had a antibiotic shot which worked instantly now I'm wondering what's I store for me if it comes back again.

I too have been struggling with UTI and antibiotics. I refysed cipro becayse of the horrible side effects. Am allergic  to amoxcicillin and cannot take Macrobid. I have gut wrenching stomach pains in upper stomach nder rib cage. What kind of antibiotic shot did they give you? Any sude effects and has that cleared up your uti? I do not understand why they do not provide the shot, and have patients struggle with those horrible meds to take for days, causing so much distress and side  Effects. Did you get the shot from a gp or specialist?  Hope this will wirk fir you, and you will be cured. Hugs to you

I was given Brand Names: Rocephin

Generic Name: ceftriaxone (injection) I went to a walk in and they gave me it after I sat with the doc there telling my story about cipro how it sucked and having horrid side effects I even gave her my cipro bottle to prove it. I'm wondering if the drug is in the amoxicillin family. I looked it up says cures most any bacterial infections. Pretty nervous now cause I'm moving states and getting a new doc if I get a infection again my body is getting used to all these meds now. I been doing some reading so ask to try the z pack supposed to be great to kill infections. Try to get your doc to understand how the meds arnt working. I'm wondering too if repeated Utis are not getting all the bacteria killed off also. I been doing a olive oil lemon cleanse trying to move my stone. Have you ever had a real bad gut pain with a uti ? When I got rid of my uti that pain stopped too

No I have an UTI but no symptoms whatsoever. I cannot get rid off it. It shows in urine tests.  Otherwise I would never know. I will ask my doctir about this shot. I cannot keep taking meds and end up sick as a dog for weeks. This last medicine they gave me is Bactrim, but I am not taking it. I currently am struggling with severe stomach issues, and these meds will only make it  worse. I have been sick for 2 months and in the ER 3 times. Had numerous tests done, because the sickness gave me anxiety, so they blame everything on anxiety.  Anyway, I hope you find a good doctor in your new home state.  You have to be your own health advocate nowadays.  Maybe someone can refer you.  Thanks for the info, and best wishes.

I'm having some severe after symptoms now like I have to run to the bathroom I just read about it my bladder is now inflamed from all these. You need to get on some meds you can't live with a uti. Try a clinic and get some help. There are a lot of meds for uti, thing is you should be careful if you become immune to a whole bunch they have to start shots only I was told. The 3 meds docs like to use are cipro levaquin and that sufo Bactrim. I hope you get to a doc asap talk about some meds that didn't work it's a infection and it's serious you can lose a kidney over it if you let it go. Let me know if you see a doc take care.

You're very wise to steer clear of Cipro, and it's brother Levaquin; they're both from the Fluoroquinolone family and will cause you horrendous problems if you take too much of them.

Ceftriaxone (Rocephin) is a relative of amoxicillin and I read you shouldn't take it if you have had severe reactions to penicillin.

All I can do is wish you both luck and hope you get rid of your problems soon.  All the best,

    Miriam
