hello ladies!!

here I am once again I've had pelvic pain for a while now and I decided to go to the emergency room they did my urine and blood work and it came back that I had a really bad UTI I already finished drinking my antibiotics but the pain still persists I am still constantly urinating and it has me very worried I don't know if the antibiotics got rid of my UTI or it could be something else I have an appointment with my gynecologist but that's in 2 weeks I just feel like going back to the emergency room to see if I still have the infection and maybe that's causing me this pain or could it be hormone- related another symptom of menopause have any of you lovely ladies gone through this before any replies will be greatly appreciated thank you and god bless!!!

Hi there, my motto is when it doubt, get it checked out. It is very common to have bladder urgency during perimenopause, but seeing you had a confirmed Uti it would be wise to see if you have it cleared out.Sometimes certain antibiotics don't get certain bacteria.....was your urine cultured so they know the appropriate antibiotic, or did they just do a urinalysis and gave you antibiotic, cultures usually take 24 to 48hours, often doctors will prescribe before they know what bacteria it is. If it comes back negative than it could be a few causes, intercisital cystitis, yeast infection, pelvic floor muscles are too tight, or a decrease of oestrgen.......I would rule out the infection first before looking into the other.

I've spent 3 weeks thinking I have a UTI.. only to go to the dr. to find out I don't. Not sure how to handle the burning pain upon urination if there's nothing wrong.

hi there - i would definitely rule out whether or not the antibiotics got the infection or not, sometimes if the UtI is bad, you have to go on a few doses of antibiotics. My mom was really prone to Uti's and in addition to having her drink unsweetened cranberry juice, i also had her take cranberry capsules...it seemed to help her ward them off.

on one occasion i got it really bad and it wouldn't clear up!

the infection had gone up into my kidneys and i spent a week in hospital on intravenous antibiotics. i was very poorly.
