A couple of months ago I was diagnosed with UTI received antibodics then 1 month later was diagnosed with UTI again, I again received antibodics and was told if I get another would need to go to Urologist. This weekend my husband was sick went to the ER and was diagnosed with UTI. What do I need to do? I think it is odd we would both get one by the information I have read it is not contagious unless it is caused by STD. Can you please advise.

It is unusual for men to get urine infections because they are anatomically different in that area and it's very rare to 'catch' an infection. One way of finding out is if it's the same bacteria. I'm pleased you have sought treatment for the UTI because doctors are becoming increasingly worried about women treating themselves. Very often it can appear that the infection has cleared when in fact it is laying dormant all the while damaging the ureters and possibly the kidneys without them realising. A bacterial infection needs antibiotics.

ive suffered from frequent UTI's. Once it has been treated by antibiotics, you could try D Mannose as a preventative measure....google it. It has really helped me and stopped my bladder from feeling irritated all the time.
