UTI's and LS

I have only been diagnosed with LS since December im 27 but I went un diagnosed for years. I have notice recently that I have been getting bad UTI alot causing bad migraines almost every month. Has any one noticed that there LS has cause more UTI... or maybe are headaches a common side effect of using clobetasol. Even though I know I'm getting UTI all the time maybe the headaches aren't from that.

    Hi Kalli,

Well, we are all different in this disease. For myself, I got a UTI at the beginning of my LS severe symptoms, when I noticed the skin splitting, and that seemed to precipitate my first and only UTI. I haven't had one since. This was in 2016. Things settled down for me when I started using Clobetasol right after that incident. I've been stable ever since. I say stable because I know things will never get back to normal before LS since there's no cure. See your doctor. Find out the reason for your reoccurring UTI, and headaches. I've never heard of headaches caused by Clobetasol. Don't forget to use only a pea-size amount of Clobetasol to a slow count of 10. Hope that helps.

Hi Kalli, yes, it is not unusual to have increased UTI's with LS. Apparently it is because of the change in ph of the skin and also I think where you are rubbing in creams etc every day be it steroid our moisturiser our can easily bring bacteria from near your anus (perinium) to the vaginal area - no matter how clean or careful we are. I get at least one a year and in a bad year have had 3. I NEVER had them before LS . As for the headaches, never heard of any connection between those and LS or use of steroid. More likely to be hormonal I should have thought if you are getting them every month. I used to get a migraine either the first our last day of my period when I was in my 40's .

If on doubt pop into your Drs to discuss.
