UTI/yeast infection doesnt go away!

Hello, I had question about something I've been going through for the past 2 months. I have some sort of bladder infection but it seems as though it doesn't matter what antibiotics I am given by the doctor, it doesn't seem to cure the infection. I had feverish like symptoms even before thanksgiving of 2017. I went to the ER and they gave me some antibiotics for a UTI but it didn't work. So I went to another hospital and they did an ultra sound and found nothing wrong just some blood in my urine and they prescribe me anything because they didn't find any infection results in the urine culture. Every since I've been getting different antibiotics from my OBGYN and nothing as worked. I usually feel tingling or stinging sensations in my midback and kidney area. what do u think this can possibly be?

If blood is in your urine then I'm going to suggest you go to a urologist ASAP. I've had similar symptoms (i.e hurts to pee) with no infection but I did not have any blood in my urine and I was diagnosed with pelvic floor dysfunction. However, I did have some back pain but I found that to not be connected in anyway to my pee pain. Blood in your urine suggests you could be bleeding somewhere in your urinary tract. Only a urologist would be able to find exactly where. Could be kidney or bladder stones as well! If you can, ask your obgyn for a referral

Thank you for your suggestion. I'm actually going to back to my OBGYN and have another urine culture done. Even though I believe it will show negative because I am still currently on the last antibiotics prescribed and it doesn't seem to be working anyways smh. Thank you again for replying! God Bless

I don't consider having blood in the urine normal.

If your urine culture indicates no infection, then why is your obgyn prescribing antibiotics?  Do you have symptoms of a UTI?  Burning, frequency, urgency?  Or do you only have the pains in the back/kidney?  Do you still have a fever?   A fever with flank pain points to a kidney infection usually.  I can't expalin why your urine culture would be negative for infection in that case.  I'd get another culture to make sure.

I would caution you about taking antibiotics frivolously.

Hey, in response to your question. When I first got this "infection" back in November it did show up as positive and that's when this all started. I was prescribed the usual antibiotics which is levaquin n it always takes away my infections with no problem, but for some reason this time it didn't work. every since I kept getting on different meds and nothing has helped and I'm a little panicked by this. I think the bacteria is resistant to that medication specifically because I have taken it a lot. I am prone to infections and I always take the same meds to take it away. Either that or maybe is some other type of infection that doesn't show up in these tests and that's why its not be treated with the right antibiotics. I'm so fed up with this. Thanks again for writing. God Bless.

Hi for me it was menopause and vaginal dryness, I am 52 years old though sometimes the symptoms of a UTI won’t go away for a long time, and the reason I know this is because I was on three antibiotics until it finally eased up. Now I have to be very careful because when you get older the tissue down there is then and is prone to infection. I have to use daily lubrication and have to drink a lot of water with lemon. I tried d-mannose is well and that has worked

Hey thanks for writing me. Well this is krazy cause anything could be causing my infections. Nothing I take is getting rid of it. And I also heard the older I get the less prone I would be to infections. I'm 26 years old and I've been dealing with this since 17. So I don't know if age has anything to do with this. Sometimes I get real hot all of a sudden and then I'm back to normal again and this started happening every since I got this bad infection that doesn't go away. I even feel feverish down there and in my lower back area usually. The meds I am on now is Cephaxilin and I don't feel is working cause I'm almost done with it and I still feel the infection. I don't what's going to happen but I def. need urgent healing. Thank you again for replying. God Bless.

Chris, the urine culture shows which antibiotics are sensitive to the bacteria they found.  Levaquin and Cephalexin are usually sensitive to E-Coli.  Do you know which bacteria they found?   I always get a copy of my culture report.  Ask for it.

Hey Marilee, well the test I had took in the hospital showed e-coli so they prescribed me something that didn't work. and everysince Ive been feeling the same all my urine test has been coming bak negative which I don't understand. I'm going bak to the OBGYN to do a papsmear and see what comes up. This is driving me krazy, I really think it could be a yeast infection that has perhaps spreaded and is long over due.

HI, i am new to this forum.  Very apply I found this discussion board.  I am 54 yr old female and this my first severe UTI/bladder infection.  I was diagnosed in November and have been on three different antibiotics.  I had pain in my back and I was scared  that it was becoming something worse, my immune system is compromised due to years of prednisone for an auto immune disease.  SO I went to the Emergency Room to check this out.  If you need to see someone (specialist) the emerge doc can escalate if needed.  Doc was shocked how much of an infection I still have.  She is sending sample away to see if a culture can be done & match up antibiotic OR investigate further.
