Utter confusion

About 12 yrs ago I developed a raft of MS type symptoms, tingling on face, extremities, fatigue and weak legs. These last approx 2 months.  I had an MRI, which was clear. I slowly afterwards made good progress. In the intervening years I have experienced many of these symptoms in very mild forms, in addition to tinnitus for the past 10 yrs and issues with my lips and tongue, also now about 10 yrs duration. The latter just becoming easily fatigued when talking etc. None of these symptoms have progressed or developed into anything significant. However seven weeks I was hit with severe tinnitus, quickly followed up by vertigo and headspins. These have continued unabated since. In addition for the past 4 weeks I have had tingling again in my extremities, off and on, including my face, nose and forehead. All intermittent. My legs and arms are fatigued, have had muscle twitching etc. I had another brain and spinal cord MRI last week, all clear. The symptoms remain. I should also say I have pass all of my recent neuro tests, sensory, strength, coordination and balance with flying colours...all of my three doctors and neuro are baffled at this stage. As I am. Any thoughts or advice would be be most appreciated. Anyone out there with a similar story? MS it seems has been ruled out. MN thankfully too considering how long some of these symptoms have persisted and the fact that my strength and balance are all good.

Apologies for the rambling post in advance.

Have you tested for vitamin b12? The symptoms you have are very similar to a b12 deficiency/pernicious anemia.

Did you have emg of your muscles? To rule out ALS? The vertigo suggest a possible inner ear issue but tye muscle twitches suggest something else. It is very hard for neurologist to figure iut what is happening when the tests don't yield answers for them. I Hope it gets better and you find some answers.

No not as yet, might be a good idea. In terms of the twitches, looking through old diaries I had them first way back in late 2006. I know I have had them off and on, more off than on though since. They have not been there for quite sometime until very recently. Back in 2006 they arrived on the back of about 3 or 4 months of other neuro stuff, tingles, fatigue and weakness. Same pattern this time really, although fatigue and twitches more of them this time.

How are you feeling no weakness right? Twitching is normal all thw neurologist tell me its the company they keep I have been told. So if you jave no weakness you should be safe.

I would just see a neurologist to make sure you are going to be fine. If you had twitches before it isn't from ALS. Weakness tingling could be a neuropathy. So you still need to see a neurologist. Plus you are still young and you could have a genetic neuropathy.

Thanks Angela. I have fatigue but no pronounced weakness in terms of legs and arms. They still feel strong, although tired. Thanks for the reply.

You are right I have had twitches to some extent or other since 2006...possibly before.
