uveitis

I have an app with an eye specialist but i just want to see if anyonr else has the same problem..
for over a year now ive had weird things going on with my eyes. my eyes will feel like theyre on fire or it feels like a burning solution was put in them and i cant keep them open, i have to close my eyes tightly to get relief. other times they just feel inflamed and watery without the need to close them. But whenever this happens i look in the mirror and the white part has little red lines all over. Each time the lines have a different pattern. Sometimes the lines are really red and pronounced and are on the corners of the eye or all over. Other times there seems to be a ring of redness around the iris. And then sometimes they just have a general light reddish look. This comes and goes and occurs in the day and at night. ill wake up.to go to thr bathroom and will.see that my eyes are red but without the burning feeling. And sometimes they actually hurt and sting.

You mention uveitis...has this been diagnosed? I have had it in the past. Were you prescribed steroid eye drops?
Do you have other health issues?

Hello Margaret, when you had uveitis did you see like ghost images or double vision??

ricky to be fair I always have that. I have an auto immune disease so live with that constantly really. A simple eye examination can pick up uveitis if you have it. Have had my eyes triaged a few times due to symptoms but only once had uveitis. Dreadful headache with it.

Cause I have ghost images and double vision and the doctors still can't find what is the cause. If its not asking too much what is that immune condition?

I have a rare condition called Behcet's and uveitis is part of the disease profile/symptoms though not everyone gets it. But lots of auto immune conditions can cause those kinds of problems with the eyes.
Is your bloodwork ok? do you suffer from diabetes or any other health conditions/problems?

yes good you are seeing a specialist. I would want an assessment of how dry your eyes are and discuss the ibs and gastritis too. Is your mouth dry too or just eyes?

no dry mouth. she said it doesnt seem like sjorgen syndrome, i forgot how to spell it. But i forgot to ask about gastritis and ibs though, im thinking there isnt a connection because she said it would be autoimmune diseases that dry eyes are associated with and my eyes arent dry enough to be considered for that as a cause

Yes dry eyes ibs and gastritis...all pointing toward auto immune issues really. Very hard to pin down though and know what is going on. Just get yoir eyes checked and keep seeing your specialist.

Hello Anna, from the way you describe your eyes, they sound very very dry.
Have you tried buying some over the counter lubricating eye drops? Preservative free would be best.
Who suggested that you might have uveitis?

i thought it was uveitis because of how my eyes look

I agree with Mrs Mop. This sounds exactly like the start of Dry Eye Syndrome caused most probably by the tiny glands in your eyelids starting to malfunction and ceasing to produce the essential lubricating oil. The first thing to try is lubricating drops which can easily be bought .Ask for Hypromellose drops or Artificial tears. They have to be used quite often during the day and again put in just before sleep.
Do let us know what your specialist says.

yea thats what she said today. I honestly thought my eye symptoms were because of an underlying medical cause
