Hi.

I would just like to share with the people in the same boat as me, a product I have found helpful is Yes. It is a lubricant but can also be used as a moisturiser around the vaginal and anal area, and during sex. The oil based one is best as opposed to the water based type which I did not like. The oil based one you need a minute amount, it contains only natural ingredients, and I am on the second day of using it and have found no probs so far, going as far to use it just before an aerobic session today, (as chafing a problem usually) and it has done the job. I also use Hydromol, and Vagifem twice a week. I have tried a few things but I can recommend this one, even to people who are allergic to the least thing like me. Hope this helps someone. You can google it, I don't think I am allowed to say who sells it, I think the name of the seller will come up S-v-t-n-i.lol

I've used that, but not thought of using it as a moisturiser!  It's brilliant stuff and you can use the oil based one AND the water based one together if you need extra lubrication.  I did research well as to the safest lubricant and that seems to be it.  I think if you're choosing between the two options of it, the oil is the best as well.

Never thought of combining them. Thanks for that, it is worth bearing in mind. I wish I could get rid of the Vagifem, but I know from other postings that women seem to suffer when they stop using it. I had a couple of UTI's at the start of the menopause before the Vagifem and I do not want to risk not using it. It is frustrating as I like natural products.

You may find that others on here can offer ideas that will work, other than Vagifem, but as I've said before, it seems sometimes we're between the devil and the deep blue sea, and all we can do is research and then make informed decisions.  Vagifem never did anything for me, despite my GP putting me on it 6 days out of 7.  I'm going back to using the hyalaronic acid pessaries - the menopause plus ones now, but I have got the key e pessaries too.  The specialist said that either of those could be used daily with no harm.

I have beeon experimenting for over 18 months now and i to like the yes products for lubrication but it does not matter which natural products however expensive i have tried the only one that gets to the actual route of the problem is vagifem.  i was extremely interested to hear new research has now decided hrt is not harmful to us. which is quite reassuring.

I have been using yes oil based for some time, not only during intercourse (copious amounts) but also throughout the day to soothe and prevent rubbing and chaffing. It enables me to get through a belly dance lesson without getting sore. I apply it after everytime I go to the loo both externally and internally - washing hands first with femfresh (when out and about and using public look I just apply externally with a cotton wool pad). Everything I have read and the advice I have had from Yes is that yes water based re-hydrates the cells lining the vagina (it is absorbed, so needs to be reapplied during intercourse) and the oil based nourishes and provides a protective layer. I am extremely sensitive to products on my bits and everything seems to sting or burn. Yes water based stings slightly, not a lot, but it is noticeable. The only thing I can tolerate on that area is natural oils. Yes oils based contains only natural organic oils and vitamin E (I have read on this forum that some women apply vitamin E oil from an oral capsule - I prefer to use Yes because it is designed for that area). Due to my extreme sensitivity to products down there I have held off using vagifem. Yes oil based is keeping me going for now. Water based is available by prescription. Oh, and also Yes recommend using both lubes during intercourse to make things extra slippery - apply oil based first then water based (if you can tolerate it) - oil and water don't mix so that water based just slides over the top of the oil based layer - "double glide" they call it.

I'm 100% with you on this!  It's an excellent product - we've used them both for a while now, and the ingredients are the safest we found anywhere.  I hadn't thought of using it as a general moisturiser but my husband had suggested it, so perhaps I'll think about it seriously now!

Thank you for the tip of using them both at once. I will give it a go.
