Vagifem

Hi,

My doctor has prescribed Vagifem (terrible name) and I'm finding that it doesn't work as well I would like, still getting some pain during penetration.

How does everyone else find it and is there anything better out there?

I have used a product called senselle from boots in the past, it has a slippery texture but seems to last for a fair amount of time and i didnt need to use too much in one go.

I think it takes a while to kick in, I have used it is the past and found it completely solved my problem down below for several years.

hi i was given vagifem but onlyused a few then i started to bleed so i stoped didnt start it again as i was bleeding on off everyday for next 4 or so weeks or more. i thought it was that that set it off so it scared me to use it again.

i got replens from boots that works ok but it has a build up in first use of dead skin cells which is a bit yuk.

im thinking about using the vagifem as iv paid for it and got three months worth but i just dont know wether to, im collecting the pills and never taking them iv been given hrt to now and not taking them either. i just walk in docs they give me what ever and i dont question it i just go get prescription and go home. prob is after i get worried about homone stuff.

is vagifem worth taking or what i dont know

You just have to find what meds work for you and what meds don't thats what i did while in the hospital

you will find the right meds

Pip, I'm no expert, it worked for me though and the dose is very low, and very little of it is absorbed into the blood stream and usually you don't take it for very long, certainly I would use it in preference to proper HRT.  I'm just guessing here but one thing it does is increase the blood flow in the vagina, so it is possible the bleeding you saw was due to this if your skin down there was sore and fragile, think how sore hands can bleed easily, then imagine increasing the blood flow to your hands.  Again, I am no expert, before taking the medication I looked into it and tried to make sense of all the warnings and put them into perspective.

Hi Pip yes it's a really bad name isn't it. I been taking for a while now, I think the key with it is to be sure you have the dose right. I started on one a week but found I need two a week for best result. Also being relaxed is so important but you won't be ablr

Sorry sent too quick, you won't be able to relax unless you get the problem fixed first. So check with doc first that you are on right dose. Xxxx
