Vaginal cuff repair

Posted , 5 users are following.

Hi, am 16 days post OP from a laproscopic hysterectomy. on day 13 some stitches in my vaginal cuff came apart near a blood vessel and I started to bleed out. I was luckily very close to the hospital otherwise I may have lost my life. I had to have a blood transfusion and surgery to repair the cuff. has anyone else had their cuff tear or open? if so what helped or is helping with getting past the fear of it happening again? I'm afraid everytime I get up to pee or if I sneeze or cough it's going to reopen.

Intense, deep seeded fears develop after traumatic events in which you fear for your life. Think PTSD. It can be difficult to get by using "willpower" or "common sense". In my case (a health related ER visit left me traumatized) I rbegan counseling and eventually started taking an antidepressant. My advice is to seek professional help.

thank you! I have a follow up appointment today and will most likely get anxiety medication and will look into seeking counseling services.

thank you Welshgirl my follow up visit with my dr was a lot more reassuring then I expected it to be and will continue to have weekly visits during my recovery. I did get a prescription just in case I have a panick but have yet to need it. i will start counseling next week.

    Hi!!

I am wondering if you are still on this forum and willing to answer some questions for me? I'm 35 years old and had a hysterectomy and two weeks after surgery I hemmoraged and went to the er and had a full vaginal cuff tear as well. I received alot of blood. And had to have surgery. I am so scared for my life these days that it's going to happen again.

If you get this please reply so we can chat!

    Thanks

    Cheryl
