Does anyone have any recommendations for vaginal dryness? I am looking for over-the-counter solutions without hormones.

Yeah no-one tells you anything. I started menopause age 45 just after my mam died and thought my periods stopped as was in shock, (sudden death) then the burning started and had a couple of UTIs and a wrong diagnosis, (DR said it was Lichen sclerosis and it wasn't). Doctor put me on Vagifem for a while and it helped but I did not want to be on it long term so tried the natural route. I still have problems with chafing my my symptoms are better. Vagifem makes me tired and gives me insomnia and makes me feel miserable. At least the hot flushes have gone. I still find intercourse very uncomfortable and avoid it.

No Donna. I did not get any yeast infection with Vagifem. And although there is a list of side effects I don't think yeast is one of them.

Hi Kathryn. Firstly I use hydromol recommended by a dermatologist to wash intimate areas (on prescription) I avoid dark coloured underwear as the dye is an irritant and I wash underwear without any detergent. Sounds gross but it is still clean. I use a lube called yes (oil based) for internal moisture and it can be used externally also. I use balance activ pessaries occasionally but they sometimes irritate my skin but ok internally.I avoid jeans and tights and find leggings with carefully selected seams don't rub especially lycra are best. I am married but find intimacy uncomfortable probably because I have avoided it so when we do have intercourse I have forgotten how to relax. Think that is about it. Anything else you want to know let me know I will happily give out any info which I think may help.
