Vaginal hysterectomy and re snterior repair year and half now back wall small bulge.. help.

hello ladies new and old..

I had my tvh and repeat anterior Jan 2018 which went smoothly and no issues apart from leaving me paranoid lol.

fast forward to now and I have a grade 1 rectocele with a small inside bulge the size of a popcorn grrrrrrrr.

apparently my consultant didn't touch ut during the surgery as I wasnt really having a massive problem and I believe they dont like to fo all 3 together due to leaving us too small for intercourse.

I'm so upset because I would of taken a risk knowing he is a professor than have to go through poo issues and may be another repair.

has anyone had a back wall done on it's own and how was the recovery pain wise?

I had no pain with my first anterior and only mild cramps after my tvh.

what would you ladies do.. leave it and do loads of kegals or opt to get ut done now while I'm still youngish 51 lol.

I take movicol and glycerine supps to poo if I need too and never strain. I wished I had a caesarian 23 yrs ago with my 2 babies, may be wouldn't be suffering now . it all starting weaken at age 42😥

thankyou ladies and take care of yourselves. x

Hi, If you can go without straining and without problems, don't have it done. I did, and it failed within weeks, rectal muscles still don't work, and now rectocele further down, and have pudendal neuralgia also since surgery

. I'm on list for a spinal stim, the pain is so bad. The irony is, I'm now also taking movicol and magnesium citrate and have no problems, when before I really struggled and ended up with a fissure and bleeding a lot. I would never have had it done if I had known I could manage it.

ahh bless you Laura.. its sooo hard isn't it yo know what to do. the sensation in the vag us what I hate with the pocket type bulge .

do you notice the bulge sensation much or not? I suppose that's what bothers me the most along with not pooing easy without glycerine.

I really appreciate your time and I wish you lots of healing.x

Have you tried Magnesium citrate? Its better than movicol on it's own, just have to get it right as you don't want the runs. No I don't notice it as long as I am regular, and it's really damaged me painwise, I would never advise anyone to have it done.

    hi welshgirl

i had total hysterectomy, TvT , plus anteria & posteria done all in one op 3 yrs gone april

i still have issues pooing but at first it was much improved

But lately I've noticed things feel different i think my repair has started to fail as i can feel an opening on vault area of vagina

i am going to see GP tomorrow and I'm dreading the outcome

In answer to your question if you can poo without much intervention I'd be tempted to leave well alone. x

      hi F1-45

my paranoia is after hysterectomy my vault falls down . it's only been year and half since my tvh.

how do you know its vault? does it look different to the front or back bulge? how does it feel. I sometimes get a burny sensation in my vag but I dont have infection. it's hard to describe too be honest.

I get very worried that all this weakness is forever but I have ordered those innovo shorts that completely do 181 contractions for you correctly every day with clinical results.

I do do them myself but I dont think I could do 181 every day.

      hi welshgirl

GP has confirmed i an starting to prolapse again. I'm gutted as bit sure what to do. I am going to see my colorectal nurse in july so she wants to wait until I've seen her before we make any decisions. She has taken a swab as I've been having lots of discharge too. Get results in a few days.

what surgery have you had previously hun? how old are you.?

did she say it the vault dropping down or the vag walls.. I've always been paranoid after my first an failed 3 yrs ago now had tvh I'm even more paranoid. I never lift,or fo strenous exercises even though I'm capable of doing them I won't. fo you gave bowel issues anyway hun? I'm so gutted for you and know the downhearted feeling it brings. I have bought innovo pelvuc floor shorts so I'm happy I'm doing them right.

sorry you're going through this again. i had your op about 4 years ago. Like you, slight bulge at back but wouldnt do all 3 at same time. A later the back failed, i tried physio but that didnt really help so i went on the waiting list for back op. Unfortunately whilel waiting the back got worse and pulled the vault down. So bythe time i had my op i had vault and back done (with mesh that they then banned a couple of months later). The op seems mostly successful so far but i have alot of scar damage which affects me and within 2 weeks i had a small bulge right at the opening which is really annoying. So far the bulge doesnt seem to have got any worse. My physio recommended doing exercises on a pilates ball which seems to help. its certainly helped with my back pain that i got a few months postop.

thankyou Sarah for your reply. . I'm praying my vault stays put as it's only been year and half. I know my consultant did say he attached the cut ligaments after do I'm hoping its strong enough to hold.. it's not the stitch that some people have after hysterectomy.

whst does a vault prolapse look like then? I refuse to keep looming as I worry myself crazy so rather not visualise lol. this is all so hard for us women.x

yes me six weeks ago ,the op was fine but recovery ongoing ,my rectocele was large ,i couldnt empty my bowels without having to support my perinium ,it has worked ,but took ages to be consideted after many other things didnt help ,pelvic floor ,squatty potty ,my surgery took 2.30 hours alot longer than expected but worth it xx

I'm soo pleased for you emma1967 same age as me🌝 I do use a step when in bathroom which helps but not always. if I use glycerine suppositories I'm fine but it's not right yo use them to poo each day. have you had any other repairs Emma or hysterectomy previously ?

was the op painful or not too bad? I'm hoping once I get back to strength the pelvic floor I'll feel a bit better but these ops gave ruined my head that's for sure .x

hi only had this done ,it is fine ,just being cautious still ,its worth having done in my opinion ,i was taking movicol twice a day before the op which made it easier ,i think if its troublesome the drs will put you forward for surgery ,they do loads of scans etc before it took about a year all in all xx
