Vaginal itching, Dr mention LS, having lap smear in 2 days (image)

So I have had some vaginal itching for a few months now, only on my inner labia and around my vaginal opening. I used a 3 day cream and 2 boxes of 6 day pessaries before going to the Dr, who then prescribed me 6 weeks of fluconazole, and got my to do some swabs in the toilet. All std checks were clear, it said I had a small amount of Candida and my urine had a small amount of white blood cells (could have been contamination, but I was pretty careful following instructions) .. I haven't noticed any typical candida white discharge, in my 28 years I've only had thrush a handful of times luckily and it's gone away quickly with OTC treatment.

I went back to dr today as it's been 6 weeks since starting the fluconazole and I'm still itchy. she mentioned today I'm overdue for my pap smear and has booked it for Tuesday and said it could be something like LS that doesn't respond to fluconazole. So of course I've taken to Google lol .. I found this site and multiple other women who have posted photos, I'm that desperate I think I'd show anyone to get some relief 😦 .. have had sex once since this started and I had a strange pinching feeling from in my vagina, it wasn't so much painful, but it was uncomfortable but it went away after a few minutes.

I am also still breastfeeding, my son just turned 2 and have had my period back for 5 cycles now.

The external itching, unsuccessful with typical yeast products, sound pretty stereotypic to me. Another key being that all your itching is really external. Frankly, I'm no doc, but the pic also looks like LS to me.

At this point, you don't want to treat it with the steroids today, because you have the biopsy tomorrow. Do a nice cool bath with some baking soda or epsom salts. Then use some ice on it if you need to calm the itch...or some lidocaine cream to get you some sleep tonight. .

Then, tomorrow, ask for some steroid OINTMENT to calm it down while you await the biopsy results.

Maybe it's not, but I suspect it is.

The steroids should have you feeling better in just a few days, but ask the doc if you should keep it away from the biopsy site for a few days.

Had my pap smear today, she said the skin there is starting to look white and she thinks it is LS, but has given me steroid cream, and she took more swabs and said I have a lesion, exactly where I felt pain while having sex. took more swabs and will get the results in 10 days. 😃

Did she give instructions for the steroid...

      1. The steroid should be "ointment" not cream. You may have just used the generic term cream...but if she gave you cream, not ointment, ask her if she could re-write for ointment.
      2. Did she tell you how often to use it? When I was first given the steroid, I did 2x a day for 2 weeks. That put a stop to about 95% of the itching. Then I was with none for a few weeks before the biopsy.
      3. Are the swabs for the yeast and the lesion. Usually, with LS they need to do a punch biopsy to confirm diagnosis. Doesn't sound exactly like she did this.
      4. We you talk to her again, ask for a prescription for Nystatin or similar because the steroid will make you more prone to external yeast. This will allow you to knock it down whenever it starts to emerge.

Yes! you need the Ointment - my idiot "specialist" gave me cream and it burned me so bad I could barely sleep - Ointment provides relief quickly!
