Vaginal Pain, burning and constantly need to pass urin

Hi to everyone,

I need an advice because I really don't know how to dea with this situation. I'm not from Scotland but I'm been living here for almost two years. Some months ago I've started to have a constant feeling to go to the toilet and I feel that after I've been in the toilet my vagina burns outside as well. I've also noticed a presence of some bladder. Anyway I've been 492492 times to the GP, everytime was a different one which his different teory. One thought it was trush, so he gave me a cream and a vaginal tablet. After the treatment I didn't have any change, so I went again and I've been given two different antibiotic, one for UTI and another one for Uretritis. There's been no difference, just sightly. Anyway, after two months I still feel really bad. My quality of life is horrible, i need to wake up everytime for 2-3 times during the night to pass urin, I can't have sex anymore and sometimes it burns me a lot. I also feel really anxious because I don't know what's going on and I'm worried. I've been refered to a gynaecologist from a GP one month ago and I'm still waiting for his letter. What can I do? How is it possible that it's not possible to see a gynaechologust without being rich? I think every woman should go to the gynaechologist how is that possible that in scotland it's not possible????? Shoud I go to the hospital? Is there someone that I can phone?

I won't mind paying 50/100 pounds but I can't more than this because I'm just a waitress.

Thank you

Did the GP sent your urine and vaginal swab to the lab before prescribing?  It sounds like urine infection to me.

yes! I've done a smear test, 5-6 urine texts and test for sexual trasmitted illness and they didn't find anything

It is very frustrating when you do not know what it is.  At least your tests came back negative.  Why would tour GP prescribed antibiotics when yours tests are negative?   My GP prescribed antibiotics as dipstck found blood and pus in y urine but culture came neg.  One gp said to take antibiotics and another said no.  I am going to have another urine test and will ask to be referred to a urologist.  Have yoou asked your gp why gynae not urologist or both?    am asking beause I was referred to gynae but now I think it might be due to bladder problems. I am afraid it takes a long time to get gynae appointment wait a couple of weeks and then nag your GP again.  Sorry I could not be of any more help, hope somebody here will be able to advise.

Thank you very much for the suggestion! I've been referred just to a gynacologist but this is taking too long! I've been waiting for one month I can't stand anymore. Do you think i should go to the hospital ?

Thanks for the answer! I feel better if I talk about it with someone smile

I've no idea why my GP prescribed me antibiotics, I don't understand it either...

Go back to your gp and tell him or her you cannot stand it anymore whether he could find out why your appointment us taking that long.   Non urgent case can take as long as 8 to 12 weeks.   I was seen within 2 weeks because I was spotting. Ask GP why you have been prescribed antibiotics if your tests are neg.  I am putting up with  this burning sensation and abdominal discomfort 24/7.  You are not alone. A lot of us have to put up with all this pain. When you said going to hospital do you mean A&E? I would see gp first as an emergency.  Pl keep us posted.

How old are you? That might have a bearing on it. As far as waiting to see a gynaecologist that's the system with the NHS I'm afraid. It's free (at the point of use) but not enough resources so waiting is the norm - everywhere not just Scotland. My husband is waiting to see a dermatologist and just got his appointment through for next February. I think a private consultation can be about £150-250 depending on where you are and who you see. You could try going to A+E or maybe an urgent care centre attached to a hospital

That's a long wait to see the derma.  I have a blemish in my leg and I thought it was nothing but GP insisted to have it checked, the most I have waited for rouine appoinment is 12 weeks. I was in and out of his office in minutes.

Yes I know that feeling with consultants! It's definitely getting worse or it could be I'm getting older and have more things going wrong requiring NHS attention. Lol.

Living in London doesn't help either to be honest being a man he won't question it and won't let me either!

I went to just in the emergency area in the hospital, but of course they didn't consider me becase "it's not an emergency". I understand that I'm not dying but in this way they will make me die soon haha.

I feel so frustrated. I've also called the 111 and they did many question to me and at the end after a long questionnaire they told me " drink water, take a paracetamol and call the gp tomorrow" Oh thank you very mych, that's really helpful. I still can believe it, I mean this is making my quality of life really low. Is there someone who I can complain about it? I really wish to talk with someone because that's umbelieveble. I could pay as well but 200 pounds for me it's too much!

      What is a A&E?

thanks for the advices btw smile

hi, Your symptoms of frequency and burning around vagina urethra lower stomack re bladder sound more typical of intersticial cystitus, its inflammatory but no bacteria seen in samples, caused by allergy or auto immune, and can only been seen and tested for with a cystasscope looking at inside the bladder and taking a biopsy, this is done by urologist, which l,d expect gps to know about but many dont seem to, and seeing a urologist is as difficult and long lists as gyny, as with most ologists l guess,  Many of us have suffered symptoms simular to yours and all other type of problems for months, years even, with gps who dont refer or misdiagnose, or none diagnose. Yes it would be great to be rich and get instant or quick attention tests procedures, and some will get better of quicker on nhs maybe due to the area.  These mbs at least give info advice and support which helps. before net and mbs you were on your own with no knowledge, which is often why it went on years for some.  The c.o.b, site give lot of specialist info on bladder probs including ic, also an mb and phone line advice. l think the usual waitiing list time for specialists is 4month, but your gp can make it sooner if put as urgent, and youd need to tell how urgent it is, and hope youve one you can get through to.  Or if you can get money together for private it will speed it up for you.  Good luck with it/
