Vaginal tear or genital wart? Any advice appreciated

Posted , 4 users are following.

About 1 week ago after intercourse I was very sore and noticed a deep-ish tear on my vagina opening / hymen remnant, which bled when poked as shown in the first photo. Have been using antibacterial creams for 5-6 days and have noticed the redness subside and the bleeding has stopped. I now have a white patch which concerns me as shown in the attached photos.

I've been vaccinated with Gardasil and my partner has no visible symptoms / has never had warts. Could this be a genital wart or more likely healing of the vaginal tissue?

Due to Covid, I have a 3 week wait to see a doctor so any advice would be appreciated as I'm in a lot of pain!

It's not a wart, but I would not exclude herpes. Besides that, you seem to have serious redness of the vaginal mucosa. By the way, photo editing doesn't help...

Thanks for the reply John - for context, the first photo is how bad it was a couple of days ago. The redness also is more in line with HSV than warts, but I've never noticed any other blisters so wondering if this could be an initial outbreak. The second photo is showing gradual healing and redness disappearing, so unsure if herpetic or not.

I would recommend to get it examined and swabbed, that's probably the only way to be sure about it.

I don't believe it to be an STD, it looks like natural healing process. I would recommend stopping the use of antibacterial creams, as they can often times do more harm than good, especially on delicate tissue, like the vulva/vagina and can cause an increase in skin irritation depending on the formulation.
