Vaginal thrush! What do I do?

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi there,

I'm 16 years old and I'm pretty sure I have vaginal thrush. I've bought cream and a tablet, however I can't take the tablet because it will stuff up with my anti inflammatories I'm taking afternoon my surgery. I've tried this cream, Canestan, coconut oil, tea tree oil...I've lost all hope! And I really wouldn't like to go to a doctor (sounds silly I know) but I just feel awkward about talking to my mum.

Hi Ruby, you have tried a lot of products, maybe too many.

You bought the Canesten, why not try talking to a Pharmacist?  There is another product called Canesten HC, which also has a mild steroid cream in it, which can help.

But, why not make an appt with the Practice Nurse at your surgery?  You won't be the first person she has seen with vaginal thrush, then once you have seen her, you might find it easier to talk to your mum.

Be wary of what soaps, shower gels etc you use because they can exacerbate the problem And wear loose fitting underwear, trousers etc..

    Good luck.

Thanks so much for the quick reply! I've actually had my surgery and have missed the opportunity to actually go see the nurse, darn! If only I knew earlier.

Will give the canestan a try.

Thank you so much, really appreciate it. smile

    Hi rubyklewis

Not easy is it when these things happen. ? Would you consider making an appointment with the Practice Nurse based at your GP'S surgery? Nurses deal with many aspects of health care and I'm sure you would feel much better in yourself after your concern has been attended to.

    Best wishes.

Unfortunately I've already had my surgery and I'm out of the hospital! Wish I had known about seeing the nurse earlier!!!
