Valium

been on 20 mg of valium for 7 mos. it seems to be making me more groggy and zombie like, instead of my body becoming adjusted. slowly cutting back at 2 and 1 half a day. I take 5 mg pills. Will do this slowly. My question is, does the zombie feeling go away after awhile? I have no choice but to cut back, it makes me feel like I don't want to do anything. Anyone else experience this? did you reduce your dose? I know I have to go slow. am on 5 mg of Celexa and feel like the Celexa is finally starting to work. is that why I'm feeling worse on the valium?

by the time I got to the psychiatrist, I was in such distress he felt it was best. I don't like being on it, but I am. I am slowly working on getting off. it will take a while. I know of other people who have been on this med for yrs. it's not good, but I have to tell you. continually reminding people who are on this med that it's only for short term relief doesn't help us. yes, I've heard of the Ashton manual, I am just trying to survive. you don't know what's going on in people's lives, or what they're doctors have put them on. we have to deal with what we have to deal with. My anxiety is very bad, I know there are other meds, but this is where I am at right now. please quit reminding us of what the protocol is. we know. believe me, we know. I appreciate your concern, but it's not helping. just be thankful you're not in my shoes right now. I have a hard time just making it through the day. have a good day, with God's help, I will get better one of these days.

Benzos cause many, many nasty side effects . This is why they are only allowed to be rx short term that is to 4 weeks. Any dr x longer is a malpractitioner according to the Regulatory Bodies. I do not make the rules. Drs have been struck off for inappropriate prescribing and some jailed for manslaughter / hope u feel better soon

Hey Nancy!
Hope your feeling better soon.
I been struggling to get through days snd im not working due to this.
I been on celexa 20 mg for around 3 months and still not well.
I might have to take klonopin more as im not feeling that great.
I dont wanna do this due to withdrawl but you gotta help yourself through bad days.

I agree. Thousands have suffered unnecessarily due to anti depressants and benzos and when weaned off have started to improve. It is essential to wean off slowly to minimise wd signs and symptoms.
Benzos are controlled drugs . Their dangers have been known since the 1960's but details hidden from patients. books n his have been written by doctors . Drs are tending to cold turkey people off of benzos and anti depressants and this is dangerous. there is a massive amount of info on this online. Ashton manual. twitter christy huff cardiologist and benzo victim.

Valium is a benzodiazepine. They are addictive but wore have many nasty side effects. If u are weaning off this drug which is adviseable then it has to be done very slowly to minimise the side effects and wd. Ashton manual. Drs are only allowed to prescribe this stuff for 2 o 4 weeks.
The General Medical Council would be interested to hear about any malpactitioner who rx this stuff longer. Benzos wreck lives/ drs will be stopped from prescribing it soon anyway thankfully

Hello Nancy,
Congratulations that you are weaning yourself off Valium. I, too, weaned myself off Valium VERY SLOWLY. Feeling groggy and zombie-like may be due to Valium, but SSRIs can also cause those symptoms. The bottom line is that these symptoms will pass in time. I see that this post is 4 months old. Truly I hope you are still persevering with your taper.
Just ignore those negative comments from those who blame the patient. If someone has horrendous anxiety, there is a place for Valium. It is not ideal that that those with anxiety disorders have to sometimes take Valium. But unfortunately, it is the only medicine that helps in certain situations.
There are many more people who are "pulling" for you than are criticizing you. I wish you the best of luck.
