Valley Fever aka Coccidioidomycosis

Also known as Coccidioidomycosis; a fungal infection caused by coccidioides organisms. The fungi live in the dirt or soil of dry areas like Arizona. You get it from inhaling the spores of the fungus when there is dust storms or it is winding.
Approx. 9 yrs ago, I came down with a severe rash over my body. My hands and feet were especially bright hot red and itchy like no other. I slept for 3 straight weeks, minus an hour a day that I woke and was coherent. It was awful. Once you contract this disease, it is forever with you. The disease will go dormant for an unknown amount of time and possibly will never come back.
Today, my RA specialist called to tell me that my labs last week show that the Valley Fever is active. My heart sank. Tomorrow I go for another test to verify this. 😪
Curious if anyone on here has had it or heard of it… Wish me luck tomorrow.

Hi amylee,
Sorry but, no I've not heard of it. I have cfs/me so identify with the dread of waiting for results! Wishing you luck for tomorrow.

Hi amylee,
That's frustrating! I guess it is important to double check these things though. Hopefully it will be sooner than later you get the results.
