Valtrex

Recently had my first ever penis symptoms from itching all the way to sores, scabs, and now clear. Got tested  by swab & blood. Negative on HSV2 (genital) but positive on HSV1. I've had HSV1 (oral) for years so that wasn't a surprise.

My fault! Partner had told me she has HSV2 but I "pushed" for unprotected vaginal & oral.

Question. I don't wish to continue taking Valtrex regularly. When can I stop if I'm totally clear now? Do I have to finish the f***g bottle? I hate antibiotics! Thank you in advance for any advice.

You still haven't said what the result of your swab test was, only the blood tests, which mean nothing since you are an existing carrier of HSV1, so a positive for that could mean only oral. In fact, you should be immune from it genitally as a result. So about the antivirals (not antibiotics), it all depends on whether you even have genital herpes or not. What was your swab result?

And that was when you were in the midst of a suspected outbreak? If so, then it seems like it was something else, not genital herpes. A swab during an outbreak is the best diagnostic test.
