Varicose Veins - aaak! - coincidence?

Posted , 3 users are following.

I've never had a varicose vein in my life, and when I looked down at my legs last night, I am seeing a dozen, on both operated and non-operated leg. I don't how long they've been there (I am 4.5 weeks post op) but I know they weren't there pre surgery. Coincidence with the THR?

    Hi Skidget

Maybe yes and maybe no (helpful????) -

If you never had them , I would have them checked  by GP ... just to get peace of mind ..

How are you getting on otherwise?

    Big warm hug

Hi, Renee!  I see my surgeon for my 6-week f/u in a week or so; I'll bounce it off him. I think I already know what he'll say, though.  : )

You are so sweet for asking how I'm doing. Well...five weeks post-op...I think pretty darned good. The pile of rocks that I've been sitting on (my version of the golf ball) has been getting smaller; feels now more like a paperback novel. The extreme fatigue is lifting; I must be sleeping much more soundly (makes sense!). That sleep deprivation...so sneaky.  I don't comment much on the emotional aspect within these posts because that's been one of the trickiest aspects for me, so...I don't have a lot of offer anyone on that!

I will say, that when I heard Coldplay's "Clocks" yesterday, I almost broke into a hip-swinging, dance floor groove...alas...that's a few weeks away yet.  : )  It felt great just wanting to dance! (egads, I can't wait!)

Am walking unaided indoors (have been for a couple of weeks) but need the walker for distance (walking my son to school) and my husband's arm for truck-to-store-door stuff (then I just use the shopping cart). So that's all good...or maybe amazIng?

I know you have had some unexpected challenges of late.  How are you???

hmm, I have noticed a vein on my un operated leg that looks like Zorro has been at me, litterally looks like a Z, don't think it is a varicose vein though. I only noticed it after the op.

Don't forget though, they get rough with you.

You know, I hear/read that frequently...the rough stuff thing...it just gives me the willies!

I guess as soon as I'm recovered from this ol' THR and am finished googling that stuff....I can start googling varicose vein remedies!  Sheeesh!!!  I didn't see anything directly correlating the THR to the vein issue in a quick 5-minute search, but then again - most of the good info is contained within online forums like this, not online "articles."

I do that, google stuff and always end up somewhere totally different to where I want to be. lol

Too right, learn loads from the people who go through it.
