Various symptoms in the over 70s

I seem to have a few symptoms that don't seem related, plus depression.

I am a fairly active and slim 74 year lady, but recently I have felt under the weather. I am waiting to have an endoscopy for stomach pain and also I have a polyp on my gallbladder.    In addition to this I have aches and pains which I put down to getting older.   Perhaps it is all linked to depression.   Am I depressed because I am ill, or is depression causing symptoms.  Also I have lost a little weight without trying to and I am underweight already.    Even with the support of my husband and family I am not a happy bunny.  Also I am always a bit better when it is warm and sunny and those days in England are few and far between.

Depression can make you ill for sure. Are you getting help from a doctor with that? Maybe have some checks like ct scan and colonoscopy, etc.

Also, your body may need some vitamins and minerals so perhaps take some basic ones like magnesium and b vitamins. Perhaps see someone about that too.

Please follow through until you have some answers.

    Thanks Kathleen65757

I do take Vitamins B and D.  Reluctant to take anti-depressants as last time I had bad side effects and had to stay in hospital overnight, due to rapid pulse and heartbeat.   I will be visiting my GP again soon.  (think I should move my bed in there) !!

I had a ct scan with a line in which shows contrast and they can see more clearly stuff that is missed. I drank something as well an hour beforehand.

Depression is real pain. I came back from seeing the grandchildren and was near to tears for the first week. I also get depressed when people say mean things instead of letting them roll off me.

I have been on antidepressants and I guess the rule is whether you can get yourself out of the doldrums or not. Whether you picture yourself attempting suicide and whether you can stop negative thoughts.

Talk to your doctor about it and gauge level of your depression.

Can you read a book or do you lose concentration as that is another test?

I hope you are okay once you have investigated further.
