    Hi Phil

Today went better than expected. I was given an iv drip in my left arm and the blood was taken from the right. It was pain free and only took around 20 mins to fill the bag. When finished I was given a nice cup of tea and a biscuit. I felt fine, didn't feel light headed or dizzy and managed to get the bus home with no problems. I was feeling tired earlier, so had a nap, but that's nothing new as have a nap most days as am permantly exhausted! My blood pressure was 146/96 before vs and 113/93 after! I can't wait for the next one now as just want to feel better. Good to hear that yours also went well.

      Hi Terry

Glad it all went well, hopefully you will be able to manage without

The drip next time,it only done as a precaution, it case you pass out

You will know what to expect next time so you should be calmer

Don't be disheartened if your levels drop differently each time you

Have you v/section I am just taking it as it comes.

      Cheers philx

Yes best to just take each one as they come. It will be interesting to see how different it is without a drip. I'm sure there will be a few ups and downs on my journey to maintenance.

      Cheers

Hiya. I had a year of weekly venesections. All were generally fine. But, there was the odd occasion where they couldn't get blood out of one arm, so had to stab the other! But, it was always good humoured, and I can't fault the staff at Basildon hospital. They were superb and looked after me well. I'm a donor now, but the team at Basildon are still testing me every six weeks to monitor my levels.....so, venesection treatment was fine, and often fun, as the nurses were great. I always drink loads before and after ate well before, had a snickers bar during, and was always fine. In the first month or so, I did have the odd morning after where I felt totally drained and couldn't get out of bed. That only happened a couple of times. Good to hear your sessions are going OK. Mike.

      Hi Mike

It's good to hear about other people's experiences with vs. I hope all mine continue to be as good as today's. The nurses at Croydon were brilliant and very attentive. I really couldn't knock the nhs at the moment. I can't wait to go back and get more of this toxic blood out of me!
