Venlafaxine and Jaw clenching (TMJ)

Hello everyone,

i have posted on here before about Ven causing jaw clenching, tensing or whatever you want to call it. A few of you said yes you do suffer with this as a side effect.

My question today is, those who suffer - does it affect your ears in anyway?

It feels like i have a slight ear infection but i know for sure that i don't (ENT) consultant has checked me out. I can feel my upper jaw tensing but im not stressed - its like the feeling that i constantly smiling and my jaw aches... strange one i know but any advice would be appreciated! im only on a very low dose just 37.5 tab a day x

I had not seen the original feed on this subject but saw this one and wanted to respond. I have noticed that i wake with my jaw clenched. This is only a recent thing having taken ven for 18 months. I dont know why this happens. Any theory's? I have not had any problems with my ears.

Yep. Jaw clenching. Blocked ears, ringing in ears.

Thanks for this Urielle, much appreciated.

Well it also makes my eyes hurt, so I get headaches and tired eyes. My upper cheeks ache also. When I stopped taking it after a few weeks the blocked ears, ringing, tense jaw/face, eye pain, sweating etc all stopped.
