Venlafaxine and raising the dose - timeline

Posted , 3 users are following.

HI there!

I was diagnosed with PTSD and prescribed venlafaxine 37.5 mg. I was on that dose for six months before it started to get hard to concentrate again and I began having panic attacks again. So, my doc doubled my dose.

I'm just wondering what dose you are on and how long you have been on it? How often does the dose have to be raised for you?

Thanks!

I only took Ven for about six months and was on 37.5 mgs. I am now desperately trying to get off it and having very bad withdrawal symptoms.

    Good luck!

75mg is generally considered the minimum therapeutic dose actually. Treatment dosage prescribed ranges from 37.5 and 300mg and sometimes more. I was treated for severe GAD at 150mg. I was on it twice, first time at 75mg for 4 years and then restarted on 150mg increasing gradually from 37.5 until 150mg. The increases were spaced out by a couple of weeks minimum and maximum 6 months. It all depends on how you respond. My treatment lasted for 8 years at 150mg (+4 yrs if you account for the failed treatment at 75mg prior to this). Out of those It took me 2 years to wean off. It was a successful treatment. Hope the same for you.

      Thank you!

OK, sounds about right. I was on the first dose for 6 months. Hopefully I can level here for a while. I really like the drug, it makes me feel "normal" again. So grateful for that and no side effects!

      Glad it worked for you!
