Venlafaxine causing cough?

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have been on Venlafaxine for a few months now gradually increasing the dose. I have now been taking 75mg twice a day for almost 3 weeks. At the same time I upped the dose, I was given a different brand of tablet. I have noticed that I have started coughing and this is gradually getting worse. I am worried as I tried Citalopram in the past but had to stop it due to a severe retching cough

Has anyone else had this?

Did it get worse over time and when increasing the dose?

Could it be due to the different brand?

Sorry I have no experience with that side effect but could you talk with your pharmacist or Dr about it??  Hope it goes away for you

I was looking at the side effects of this drug as I have had a headache for six days now. Coughing is one of the side effects of the drug and it advises that you see your doctor. I myself have not experienced this side effect and have been taking the extended release tablet version for nearly a year now 185 mg.

I would speak to your GP and take advice from them. 😊

When you look at the side effects, pretty much everything is on there I think lol

I will see how it goes and mention it to my doctor if it continues - thanks
