Venlafaxine for anxiety -side effects probelms

Can anyone help and offer advice, please? My daughter, who suffers from severe anxiety and early onset type one siabetes, was prescribed Venlafaxine by a psychiatrist to whom I suggested she go after battling for a long time with severe anxiety and depression. She was initailly feeling better using it (she started taking it 8 months ago) but now she is getting severe anxiety symptoms again, plus issues with very high blood pressure (dangerous for diabetics) plus weight gain. Both are listed as possible side effects of venlafaxine, so I'm concerned the medication is not only not helping, but may be dangerous for her to take. Her G.P. is useless, and seems to know less about diabetes than she does, so he had to have the dangers of Blood pressure for diabetes explained, and the psych.is on holiday until july so can'r be contacted! Can anyone offer some help or advice?
