venlafaxine increase

Hi

I have been on 37.5mg of venlafaxine morning and night for the last month and while I definitely feel better from when I first started taking them I still don't feel great as still bit down and edgy anxiety

My gp says its a low dose and wants to increase to 75mg twice a day

Has anyone been on this dose and has it worked for you?

I would be grateful for some feedback

I was on 3x75mg per day for many years, yes without them, not sure how I would have coped.  The problems are these drugs affect each person differently, my problem was they were affecting my adrenal glands, that is why after many years I have stopped taking them.  You should speak to your doctor, make sure that you fully understand how these drugs work with the human body, what organs in the body they can affect, how they re wire the brain.  The doctor should offer you blood tests and regular check ups, you will have to ask, most surgeries won't offer this, you have to push for it.  When you do come of this drug eventually be prepared the symptoms are pretty awful.  Unfortunately I don't think doctors fully inform people what and how these drugs work.  Please go back and speak to your doctor and if you feel you are not getting all the information you should, ask to see someone who can give you the full dentail.  Hope this helps. This from someone that wishes I had, had more information. Jan

Four weeks isn't very long for venlaflaxin to really kick in. I started off on the same low dose and it was increased to 150mg daily after six weeks because i didn't feel as well as I was hoping. After about five months I put myself back down to 75mg daily.  150mg is not a particularly high dose so if you think you need to increase it. You can always cut down later. Venlaflaxin, in my experience is a med that takes a long time to really work. Hope this helps
