Venlafaxine.. may be ok for some but not for me

I would just like to say a few things about Venlafaxine.. I was prescribed it about 10 years ago.. 300mg a day.. it wasn't until I forgot to take it that I realized how powerful a drug this can be.. I was unaware I'd forgotten..Yes.!.and was acting Way out of character.. over emotional.. upset at the least thing..depressed..etc..etc..If you don't need this drug don't start it.. Complete nightmare to get off it and..the supplies often run out..be it the manufacturer or supplier.. nobody tells you the real problem..That and forgetting to take it (you also don't realise you forgot) has made me want off it.. I've reduced dose myself.. I've lost Pals as they didn't realise it was Venlafaxine either..I'm now on half dose.. Very Depressed but..want off this stuff a.s.a.p!! Too scared to reduce further just now as I feel so bad.. Don't trust the med. profession either as they prescribe what they're told is best.. oh I could write a book.. Just warning anybody to think twice before taking it ..

I'm not off it yet.. wish I was.. Can't remember exactly when I was originally prescribed it but at least 10 years. 300mg a day. Down to 150mg now..after the supplies ran out I decided I'd no choice..as GPs and Pharmacies kept telling me the substitute was same as I was taking..Not. Side effects: erratic behaviour," Buzz "in back of head.. talking nonsense on Social Media but didn't realise it was.. mood swings.. At the moment I'm depressed but.. hopeful that will pass soon..Ps when I forgot to take it.. I forgot I'd forgotten..if that makes sense..

Hi, I'm.. so.. sorry I missed your message.. been off line today. Truth is Back in November last year All supplies of Venlafaxine ran out.. I Couldn't find out if it was Manufacture issue or supplier!! They told GPs and Pharmacies to give the slow release Venlafaxine as a substitute.. well, it wasn't the same and we weren't told the correct way to take it either.. it's not the first time supplies have run out ..It's very unpleasant . I don't know what Lexapro.is I'm afraid.. but..I have had Seroxat/ effexor ... I'm sure are the same? before Venlafaxine and it was..with hindsight..better for me and a lot easier to reduce or stop.. It is true that Venlafaxine the tablets.. AKA "Instant Release"... have run out of supply and not just recently.. Google it.. I'm so sick of feeling Crappy as well.."Down " a lot cos I had to reduce them.. long story plus forgetting them etc.. Hope this helps .. email back if any questions..I'll remember to check my emails..in future.. 🦋

Hi, this is the only thread I can find on here about coming off Venlafexine. For about 20 years I’ve been on this drug. I had the amount increased to 225mg a few years back. I wish I’d never been prescribed it.

My father died 6 weeks ago & my GP said I wasn’t suffering from

Normal grief, it was depression also so he changed me to another antidepressant called Mira....?? I was very nervous to come off the Venlafaxine as when I tried under doctors supervision before it was a disaster.

This time i thought it was going well. My GP decreased it over 3 weeks while slowly increasing the other drug. He also prescribed me a drug similar to Valium (which I’m already on) to help with the side effects.

All was going well until today & yesterday. Yesterday was the first day in 20 years that I didn’t take Venlafaxine. I’m getting awful head shocks. Really bad ones. I’m hoping they’ll stop

    Soon.
