37.5 mg venlafaxine is a sub-therapeutic dose and it is unclear why you are on it for 4 weeks?

Can you please share what you are treating? Anxiety or clinical depression or other imbalances? Either way 37.5 is an introductory dose. Further, instant release is supposed to be taken 2x per day not in one go because the peak is reached fast, leaving the brain reeling for the rest of the day which is counterproductive in rebalancing brain responses and managing any mood disorders. Venlafaxine is notorious for causing sleep-cycle disturbances, but then so is anxiety. I would advise a review with a competent psychiatrist. If you are well on 37.5 and progressively so (which is rare) then you should be on extended release (once per day either in the morning or noon) or 2x 37.5 immediate release (one in the morning and one in the evening). (btw the latterĀ still counts as sub-therapeutic due to its half-life and still means 37.5 and not 75mg...which IS the lowest therapeutic dose by the way for any of the conditions venlafaxine is typically prescribed for. Leading me back to....what are you taking it for?

      Hey there Purple D

I read your explanation to Alk and found it very informative. Thanks for that. I'm presently on 75 mg's of Ven for anxiety and dep. been on that dosage for 1 month now with mixed feelings. I've cut down on coffee and still work out approx 2 hrs a day, which helps a lot. Hopefully my meds stable off pretty soon as I dont want to go up from 75 mg's. This is my second time on these meds.  Two years ago, I thought Ven had stopped working so I went to see the Doc. He doubled my dosage and after 2 weeks decided to try Bupoprion. it seemed to not be working after 2 weeks so he switched me to Celexa. What a nightmare. I was on that for a year with horrible results. Was up to 40 mg's and felt absolutely horrible. I changed Dr's and this lady knows her stuff. Thank god. I know I will feel better. It just takes time. My last Dr gave me Atavan yo take with my meds. He never shared that this med could be addictive. Wow!!!!!!!  Enjoy your day. And thanks for ur post.

Hi there Albert. Seems we have some of the same symptoms. I know it takes awhile to work so I'm gonna ride it out.  I know this med at this dose will eventually work for me as it did b4. But it never took this long either. I started going for acupuncture and that seems to help my anxiety. Just hope it all comes together soon though. Enjoy ur day.
