Venlaflaxine and weight gain

Hi

Has anyone else gained weight on this drug ?

    Yes I have gained 14 pounds in the last 10 months but I also quit smoking during that time

    Hi, Sarah, it's so long since I started taking it, I can't remember..but.. weight gain could possibly be because you are more relaxed if the Venlafaxine is working for you.. My advice would be to watch your food portion sizes and try not to snack too much..I have "Wotsits" for that and they fill the gap 😊

    Hi sarah, yes weight gain is a common side effect. I went from size 16 to 24!

    Will say it drops of you if medication is stopped. To be honest it worked well for me so I didn’t hassle about weight gain as I was functioning again

      What is odd is i really don t eat much at all like 1000 calories a day and all clean eating but i am still gaining weight. I am better but this is really starting to get me down now.

      Talk to your prescriber of the drug. I think you will find they all have much the same effect. You either lose weight radically or put it on but I suspect if you react to Efexor like this, it may be similar for others
