hello, its completely normal. happend to me every increase of 37.5mg, from 150mg to 337.5. mine would start about a week later, would gradually build up over to to 3 weeks, just when i thought ive gone too high, the anxiety would drop down. didnt recognise any increase pre 150mg, as was too depressed. its typical for all anti depressant increases.

thanks nigel... have you fully recovered now, if so how long did it take? I know nothing's perfect but I didn't expect the anxiety would be so bad as to need regular diazipan????

i needed diazepam before i started on ven a year ago, when i tried citalopram, which made me go mental. still taking it, although on 7.5mg in total per day. i was in a complete state prior to ven. almost shut down completely, had lost 3 stone in weight, in 3 months prior to ven. took 10 weeks until i noticed first improvements. steadily increased dose by 37.5mg. ending up on 337.5mg. i improved significantly, but continued anxiety, kept putting me back into depression. 2 months ago, had 15mg of mirtazapine added, and ven reduced to 267.5mg. addition of mirt improved me quickly and significantly, better than ive been for years. its very early days for you. ven at 150mg works like an ssri, its only when you go above 150mg it starts working as a snri. above 225mg, ven has its limitations, as the seratonin effect doesnt increase, stays the same as for 150mg, and only the noradrenalin effect increases. this is why i had such a better recovery since dropping ven dose, and having mirt added. this only becomes an issue with ven, above 225mg, although can be for some people going over 150mg. stick with it. ven is good for me, with mirt added, best ive felt in years.

hi ...unfortunately I was given mirtizapine first when the sertraline that I had been on for 6 years stopped working but it caused me to swell up with odema and I had to come off it then I had a 10 day wash out before starting the venlaxafine...I also found the mirtazapine worked ok but I was also being weened of the 150mg sertraline. As soon as I started the ven at 75mg I became ill ( long story)..tooth extraction, infection, dry socket..bloody agony basically and was on ABs, opiods etc ..all of which I struggled with for a month. Then the anxiety kicked in big time, ended up in A&E. I was told all the drugs taken together had totally crashed my system , then the ven was increased to 112mg, so I don't know where I am basically other than feeling awful!!!..thanks for listening and responding, much appreciated!!!
