Venoflaxine and migranes

Has anyone been prescribed venoflaxine for chronic migranes / headaches ?

I do suffer with anxiety and depression as well and have been on citalopram but am coming off it and due to start venoflaxine at 37. 5mg on weds after 2 weeks on 10mg of citalopram.

I am really worried about the switch. I am also on mirtazapine and diazepam.

I have an 11 month old son and really need to feel better. I get daily headaches at varying intensity and feel unable to move forward with the headaches. It has been suggested I may have tmj....a jaw joint disorder......that could be causing the migranes. I am seeing an osteopath.

I often feel suicidal because of all this. I an barely able to function. Part of me thinks I should come off all meds and see if that helps.

Any advice or experience would be very welcome.

I was prescribed effexor for anxiety 6 years ago but noticed it made great improvements in lessening the frequency of my migraines as well. I mentioned this to my neurologist and he said that effexor helps with migraines too. So win win!

      Merry Christmas!

I think you should try it. Maybe it's the one for you? You will never know until you try. Think positive. Think" this is going to work!". I know its hard to positive but just try. Im not very positive rt now an trying to get out of it a little. 5 meds have not work for some reason or another. Im gonna try Effexor. Why not? It could chg my life! Goodluck

I m trying to be positive but feel so unwell. The migranes are daily and I just can t cope.

I do plan to try ven starting weds but am really scared it may make me worse.

I m so fed up and irritable. I don t want to be around anyone. Maybe citalopram withdrawal. Day 10 on 10mg before swap.

I will be so relieved if this med works for me. I need my life back.

      Hi Sarah.

I really wanted to reply as you sound similar to me! I've got chronic migraines and no amount of Meds have helped but I'm really ill at the moment with anxiety and depression. I've been taking 20mg citalopram with little effect and I'm getting worse. I'm a mum of 3 ranging from 5 years to 14 years. It's really really tough to keep it together and be a mum and wife! I start cutting citalopram in half tonight until Saturday then I miss a dose then Sunday I start venlafaxine. I'm nervous and worried I will feel worse or not be able to keep it together. I'm hoping it helps with the migraines too as the both combined is torture!

I wish you well and send you lots of hugs, it's tough and I know how you feel xxx

      Hi Faye

My migranes have improved since I came off the citalopram and started the ven. They have not gone but improved. Only on day 10 on 75mg of ven so early days.

I think chronic migranes would make anyone anxious and depressed.

Let me know how you are doing x
