Vertigo and dizziness

Posted , 7 users are following.

I'm going on my 4th week since shingle attack on the right side of my face. My nostril on right side still stings with pain when I rub it. My right eye still droops slightly and I have such awful dizziness and what I think, is vertigo. A very unbalance type of feeling in my vision. I still haven't regained my strength, but that is getting better each day. Curious if anyone else is going through this....thanks

    Hello Betty Anne

Well I believe since your eye was affected you can get dizzy!  I had shingles in February and still today I got another tiny blister and I was feeling dizzy as well!  Since I got it on my scalp it has my eyes droopy!  This is like a second mild bout

I have burning pain and at times the itching!

But visit an eye specialist if you need to!

    Hi Bettyann.

I have had much the same facial shingles, but without the vertigo, although I have fallen to the floor with `unbalance' twice . My Doctor assures me I will eventually recover, but cannot give a date. Another Consultant stated that the worst place to have shingles was the face, and yes the right side of my nose - where it started - is still fairly numb. I take CoCodamol painkillers and 50mg of Amitriptyline at night. Gabapentin caused too many side effects for me, especially unbalance. Have you been looked at by an eye clinic? If not get it done? Regards, Colin, England.

I have the same issues. The medication and the possible insult/palsy to the nerve affecting your eye are likely causing this, in my opinion. I rarely get vertigo or nausea, but Valtrex causes it for me along with a droopy eye.

    Hope you're cured!

      Hi, Pete.....

My droopy eye is getting better. I still get dizzy and can't focus on anything for about 15 seconds. It's the strangest sensation I've ever encountered. Everything is spinning and crazy. I'm not taking anything anymore (just wine...lol) but, I seem to be getting better. I still hate all these lingering shingle unpleasant side affects.

      (((hugs)))

Hi, I'm also going on my 4th week.  Vertigo/dizziness is a main concern.  Also being tired/fatigued all the time. Just saw my doctor. She thinks should clear up in six more weeks.  My shingles rash under right breast/chest long gone.

I understand the shingles virus is throughout our bodies and it just takes weeks & months to be back to normal.
