Vertigo / Dizziness - Lack of Research progress

Do any of the Medical profession / Drug Companies really care!!!

After more than a month reading, and contributing to this discussion forum, I find myself asking this question more and more.

Today, while waiting at a Supermarket queue, I got talking to a complete stranger about Vertigo and related symptoms It turned out we were both sufferers and currently having a bad time.

I spoke about this forum and the experiences most of us suffer when consulting the medical profession. This lady too had been passed around various specialists, none of whom seemed to have a clue. Like me she is taking Betahistine, but that seems to be it. There are the exercises, which have widely varying success rates, but there doesn't appear to be a CURE!

Personally I'm going with the view that is prevalent on here, that is to face our demons and fight it. (Depressing isn't it!)

Come on you clever researchers, do something and come up with a cure. PLEASE!

Any thoughts, please add your contributions below.

Thank you

Pauline

It can't be seen, it's not obvious,,so like deafness it gets ignored.over the last 3 years I have had recurring problems and have found that physicians do not seem to bothered about the symptoms of vertigo and dizziness. As a result of a casual " it will get better" I am now profoundly deaf in one ear, Not enough attention seems to be paid to HOW these things happen or preventing the consequences.

That's really Sad Delphine, I'm sorry to hear about your deafness. Dr's should be really ashamed of themselves when they impact people so fundamentally because of their inaction.

      Best wishes Pauline

    I have vestibular hypofunction.

My consultant neuro-otologist tells me there is going to be some kind of inplant available within the next ten years. I also took part in some research at my last appointment that studied the effect of intense concentration in vestibular patients.

I have also made it clear that I would like my inner ears donated to medical science upon my death.
