Vertigo Fainting (Syncope) Warning

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have had vertigo, vestibular neuritis, labyrinthitis for 4 years. Imblance all the time. I have cut down a lot on activities but just keep going as much as I can. Until one day I was waiting for a bus in hot weather and I felt the vertigo dizzies. I thought it was the usual dizzy until I woke up on the sidewalk with a smashed face, teeth, etc. I had fainted. Doctors have not come up with a specific reason as yet. So now I must review any feeling of dizziness. Is it vertigo or fainting possibly from postural hypotension and dropping heart and blood pressure rate??

I am a senior and we get so many warnings, 'must have low sodium', --I got too low. Staying hydrated is also super important. I'm sure vestibular therapy is great for some but that did not help me. The Otolarygologist had no useful suggestions.  Onwards.

I am so sorry hear about your accident, fall, that,s awful. I am likemyou and the VRT did nothing for me, plus I carry on as well as I can (67).  I dont see any drs about it now asni have come to realise they know less  than me about me! And Have no answers.  HOwever a lady i  know who has the same or similar to,us has recently started something called the Bowen Therapy.  IT is a very gentle manipulation type of thing and she says she actually, for the first time in ages,,felt better! It's an going process of,course, but you might also want to,look up on line about the Occipitals, muscles in the back of neck/head.  I know i have a lot of tension around there myself and they can affect a lot of things for peole, like us.  YOu may have low blood pressure etc., but you also may not be getting the right blood and oxygen flow to your brain so you need to find out.

Sorry to hear about your fall too arria and I do admire you for keeping going and facingn the fear so to speak.  This is what i find hard to do as it would be so easy to not go anywhere so well done you for getting out there.  I have had Bowen Therapy a few times (not for vertigo though) and it is a brilliant treatment and as Gillian said very very gentle.  They even do it on babies and lots of elderly people too.  Funnily enough, i was thinking about going and having a Bowen treatment for this so I may well do that now.

Look after yourself and be very careful

Can i ask you Barnie how you found a practioner of Bowen?

      Hi Gillian

I just googled for Bowen Practioniers in my area and then chose one.  They are quite widespread now so hopefully you will be able to find one in your area - it is a very relaxing treatment.  Good luck!

How scary. I am sorry that happened. I have postural hypertension. I take 3 to 4 salt tablets a day. I have also fainted but never hurt myself that bad. My daughter has it too and is only 15. She has fainted many times. Very sad.
