Hi Folks,

I am 28 years old and i had vertigo problems in past around one year ago. That time in  October first week of 2016 i had my brain mri which came normal and after some medication it susided.

But few days before suddenly one evening i started getting imbalance and dizzy and body continously swaying. I checked 2-3 days it came same evening time around 7 to 10pm. And those are the worst time as i couldnt even balance my body and at that time i cant eat also as it feels nauseated but till today i never omit.

After 2 days i got admitted into hospital neurologist and ENT specialist checked my last mri scan and my symptoms and they said nothing to worry it will subside with medication.

But i have few questions medication started 2 days before still yesterday evening i felt same lots of dizziness and imbalance of body, swaying of body and nauseated.

As i had my MRI october 2016 still i need to do again mri of brain? Doctors said it is valid for 2-3 years.

Do i need to do any other check ups or mri? As i am really worried as it should not be tumour.

Please guys do help me with your experience i m really worried.

hi, I get quite exasperated when I read posts like yours from people with such obvious auto immune issues who are being told that auto immune disease has been ruled out like there is some standard blood test which covers every auto immune disease on the planet. I have an auto immune disorder and my blood tests are often unremarkable. The fact that there was some inflammation present is a bit of a give away. Have you seen a rheumatologist??

You say you were borderline for auto immune disease...what did you mean by that? Was esr raised or crp and was ana checked. You have such standard symptoms it is the first thing that should be properly ruled out. You really need to see a different doctor. Are you based in the uk? If so what area are you in??

My mri's show nothing at all. Please don't worry that you have something terrible wrong which the scan has missed. My brain scan was described as 'pristine' yet I had the most horrific symptoms. That is because my symptoms were caused by inflammation and there is nothing to show on a scan. Treating the inflammation got rid of the symptoms. It is so awful that people have to go round and round in circles. Doctors just don't understand this problem.

ok well I got nowhere with a neurologist they just weren't able to diagnose the problem.

I can't help on the question of how long a brain scan is valid for. I would think if you had the symptoms and they did a scan that there is no reason to do a second one. But you would need an expert to tell you this. The answer just may not be in the brain at all. Like me, there were no neurological problems or issues causing my problem. It was an auto immune disorder. If it is that there will be nothing to be seen on a brain scan.

hi sorry I had meant originally to respond to someone else's post but ended up posting in yours. Sorry about that.

However, these kind of issues you describe could very easily also be auto immune related. The problem is there is such a range of auto immune disorders and such a range of symptoms. But these kind of disorders often present with dizziness and imbalance issues as they did for me. I had been to neurologists ent etc with no outcome. I was finally diagnosed by seen an immunologist and then a rheumatologist and I feel that is an avenue you should explore. If your mri is clear I think you should not worry that there is something going on in your brain which has somehow been missed.
