Hello... I'm 35 years old & I've been diagnosed with Vertigo/ Menieres disorder. The symptoms have been coming more often & it's majorly affecting my life. I cant drive & I've been missing work due to how horrible I feel. I was also diagnosed with Sjrogrens disease 4 years ago which is an autoimmune disorder & i was wondering if it can all be because of that? I've tried the Seaband & the balance bracelet & meds like Meclizine but nothing helps & it seems like every time I have an onset it gets worse & worse. Ive also had a MRI on my neck & all they found was normal weae & tear but my neck cracks in a few places could this be triggering my vertigo? Can someone please help me in pointing me in the right direction of aleavating this dizzyness burden? Thank you.

My situation isn't nearly as severe as yours, so I probably won't be too much help.

Who diagnosed you? Did they do an MRI on your brain and have you been to an ENT (ear, nose, throat) specialist?

Hello... I was diagnosed by an ENT specialist a little over a year ago

With vertigo then went back a a few months ago cuz i kept getting the onsets then she said it was classified as Menieres disorder... the MRI was on my neck cuz i was in a car accident in Nov of last year... they said it was normal wear & tear. My head feels full & i get all disoriented but it's the dizzyness I just can seem to overcome.

I had that "full" feeling for the longest time after my vertigo spell 6/27/15.  it finally went away like 3 weeks ago and now I feel normal again.....   The thing that helped me was moving around as much as I good and got back into exercising.   I know it's hard to do when you're dizzy, but moving around does help.

If you haven't already, I would also suggest trying a chiropractor.   Sometimes a simple cracking of the neck and/or back will get rid of the pressure.

With your accident - is that when your dizziness started? Did you ever go to physical therapy for your neck? A 35 year old having dizziness because of normal wear and tear? That doesn't sound right. I would ask to go to a physical therapist - at least for a consultation. I broke my neck years ago in a car accident - I am now 55 and didn't have dizziness. My current issue is not terrible and I'm still not standing for a diagnosis that it's normal wear and tear and to just deal with it

Hello & Thank you!... I read something about excersicing on some Web page but thought that would make it worse but if it helped you then it's worth a try! Anything to get rid of this feeling... thank you.

I was having dizzyness off & on for about almost 5 years then found out I had Sjrogrens disease & dizzyness is a factor of that so I thought it was all chalked up to that but I started getting more neck pain after the accident which is why I was sent for an MRI & that what they told me. They said nothing about trauma &just told me to do some neck excersises but it really doesn't help any. But neck surgery sounds like alot of pain & very serious so I'm sure you feel my pain.

Definatly do not get surgery unless you have to - my neck was broken, I didn't have a choice. But physical therapy saved my life. Dr's kept giving me drugs and they were turning me into a zombie. They kept saying "you broke your neck, you are going to have problems".After physical therapy, I no longer needed any medications. At least go for a consult, you have nothing to lose. You are only 35 - your dizziness is not normal wear and tear. Get a little more proactive and don't give in.

Thank you & your right... I know that all our bodies take alot & stress is a big contributor & I'm not a fan of drugs myself... I only take them till I can't take it anymore. Going to see about some physical therapy for my neck to see if that helps in getting rid of my dizzyness & a 2nd opinion on my overall neck health! Thank you very much for your responce!

Hi..sorry you are suffering!   Please have your neck checked again...I have yet to see a post where someone does not have neck problems along with vertigo...I can only suggest what has worked for me at different times--Dr. Carol Foster's exercises for the inner ear (but be careful if you have neck damage), lots of Vit D, nasal rinses using a neti pot., minerals to keep the inner ear bones strong and functioning properly.  Keep us posted on your health. God bless.

Does anyone else feel weak & tired when your dealing with vertigo? I feel like I can't seem to get moving & i got about 9 hr sleep & i feel like I didn't sleep at all. I'm a bit dizzy but I'm trying to control that part but i keep having to stop to rest & my heart rate is 93 beats a minute this morning but blood pressure is normal. I'm not even moving very fast. Has anyone else felt what I am describing? Thanks.

    Hi Audrey,

I'm sorry you are suffering so much. I had severe vertigo in 1996 and the only thing that finally helped was valium It is a vestibular nerve stabilizer and it took the edge off of the worst dizziness. I found out I had lyme and co infections one being bartonella. Lyme and bartonella can cause those symptoms. My advice is a LLMD if no other cause is found and ask to try the valium. Antivert just made me tired. I hope you feel better soon.

    By the way audrey,

I was diagnosed with menier'es, inner ear virus, possibly lupus, migraines,

and all my symptoms were related to lyme and bartonella. My suggestion is see a lyme specialist (a real lyme literate MD). To find one ask on line on Lyme net or ILADS. Its important to treat early if you have it and the blood tests are not reliable. I lost 35 years of my life because all the doctors missed the diagnosis. Just be careful its ruled out, thats all. Feel better.

When are you getting your MRI results? For the meantime, I know it's uncomfortable, but have you tried sleeping sitting up? At least until you have answers

Call you Dr. and ask about Brandt-Daroff Exercises. DO NOT DO THEM WITHOUT CHECKING WITH YOU DR FIRST.

Start in a sitting position. Move slowly from sitting into the side-lying position that produces the vertigo, then tilt your head up to look towards the ceiling. Stay in that position until the vertigo stops plus an additional 10 seconds; then sit upright again. After 10 additional seconds, move slowly into the opposite side-lying position for 10 seconds, then sit up. Repeat this 3 times in a row, twice a day, gradually increasing to 10 times twice daily until the vertigo is gone.

Thank you I will ask tommrow when I see my gp,I'm desperate to get well,do you get severe tiredness or any other symptoms? Lisa

All of my symptoms were related to my leg and knee surgery in July. My system is VERY sensitive to anesthesia and pain meds. I was bed ridden sick, including vertigo, for almost 7 weeks.

      7 weeks,wow that's a long time,poor you,I hope you are feeling better now,lisa

Thank goodness, yes I am feeling better! I had to clean out my system for a endoscopy and sigmoidoscopy. Since there was nothing in my system to digest, I started feeling better. Then when I started taking the mixture mentioned before, I improved greatly. After 11 weeks post op now, I can only put 50% pressure on my leg, but at least I not sick anymore!

Post an update so we know how you are doing. Best wishes!

Hello lisa... I have been getting worse myself especially for the past 2 or maybe 3 months... lots of dizzyness... it hurts to focus & it really hard getting out of bed cuz I'm so dizzy & the fatigue doesn't help either. Do you have nausa? How long have you noticed that your symptoms are getting worse?

Hi Audrey, I've been getting worse for last 5 months but two weeks I havnt worked and so dizzy I stayed in bed for a week and I was good for 4 days but I'm gradually getting worse,my left ear is feeling blocked and I know its not a wax blockage as regularly have ears checked,I feel like I'm losing my hearing and I'm even so more dizzy if I lay on that side,my right eye has been going weird for a few months now and blurred vision, also I had a scare 3 weeks ago as I turned round my eye felt slow like it was stuck and I came over dizzy,do you ever experience anything like this?lisa

Sounds like you & I have been fighting the same symptoms except the feeling of something blocking my ear... I keep having a ringing sound in my ear that goes & comes & it's pretty annoying & makes me dizzy. But you & I have been experiencing the same thing with the eyes. My autoimmune disorder causes chronic dry eye & it horrible. A few months ago I developed a twitch in my right eye & when I went to see my optometrist she said that my eye was bone dry & gave me some stronger lubricating eye drops which took about a week to take the twitching away. When I was first diagnosed with Sjrogrens disease it was my eyes that led me to the doctor. My eyes also get stuck but to my eyelid which usually happens overnight. Have you have any blood tests done yet? Like a lupus panel test?

Morning, the only blood test I had done revealed I was anaemic and vitamin d deficient but I have had pills a while now so should have started working, I had extremely dry eyes and was given celivist eye drops ,natural tears you can buy over counter they are amazing.I also had a few weeks of ear ringing in both ears and had to sleep with a fan or TV on as couldn't sleep with the noise, last night sounded like a heartbeat was pumping in my left ear,how are you today?I've slept all morning as dizzy feel so tired, lisa

Good morning Lisa... I myself have a vitamin D definitely that I've been trying to raise since is was diagnosed with Sjrogrens & i can't seem to get my numbers up... I was taking 10k milligrams a week but it was making me sick to my stomach so I'm trying to do daily 2k milligrams & get some sun now... I also take a vitamin called maxi tears... have you heard of them? I started taking them for my dry eye it helps but I'm bad with being consistent but so far I'm doing fine since yesterday... saturday night was bad cuz i was dizzy & faint after I had a shower then eventually passed out. On sunday night I had to take a pill for the dizzyness but I took the vitamin D3 & the maxi tears together & fell asleep with an ice pack on my neck & i woke up better to function... feeling okay today just trying to take it easy but I have to work so I'm hoping this feeling lasts. Have you tried an ice pack on the back of your neck? I had the heartbeat in the ear as well for about a week last month it was annoying but it went away... I also had a bit of pressure pain when that was happening too. How you feeling today?

Hello, sorry to hear you passed out, glad your a bit better now,I havnt heard of them eye drops but will look for them,I'm taking 50,000 units a week of vit d and so far just have a tender tummy,I'm also taking iron pills.I've tried the ice pack and it relived the pressure in head and neck so thank you, also tried heat pack on ears and seemed to help me too,I will continue to use both I think,I'm off work still as so dizzy again,I felt better for few days last week but back in bed now.forgot to ask how old you are?I'm 33 in December, everyone I talk to on this site are all much older then me its making me down as I'm so young to have dizziness, Lisa x

The maxi tears is actually a vitamin... it has fish, krill & salmon oil which is rich in omega 3 fatty acids which are said to help. My optometrist told me about them & I've ordered them off amazon. I'm glad the ice pack help you a bit... I noticed it helps when you put it on top of your head as well... my boyfriend & I saw a poster on pressure points so I thought it was worth a try & it did help a bit too. I'll be 36 years old in a couple of weeks so you & I are pretty close in age to be going through this as I have gotten that same response but no matter what age I'm sure we are all fustrated... I know I am. I hope you feel better soon at least enough to go to work... it's not easy working like that.

I agree with the sleeping sitting up, it works for me when I'm having a bad attack.

I don't do these exercises, but I play bowls. I challenge the dizziness by doing what your exercises do, looking up, moving my head etc. Nothing changes for first hour, but when we break for tea, it goes away. The second hour, everything is OK.

The episodes are getting less, butt they haven't gone away.

I am taking Betahistine in the day and Cinnarizine at night they do seem to help.
