i have suffered vertigo first time 1992. had it for just about a week then went. Two weeks later it came back. Didnt have it again till 2013. i had it then for approximately 6 months. Didnt bother me too much and I didnt take any meds cos it wss only when I got into bed and dizzy for at the most 2 seconds and the same in the morning when I got out of bed. However since last April I have had it quite often. it goes away for a few months or weeks then comes back. I was in the UK at Xmas and I woke up one morning not feeling great. Took a drink of water went back to bed and I got so sick and dizzy. my daughter who is a nurse said I had a vertigo/migraine which I have never heard of before. Anyway rang 111 a doctot gave me a script fot Serc 16mg. Was ok a couple of days later. Thursday evening I got into bed moved on my pillow and wallop whole room spun. Started taking Serc 16 tabs. it now Tuesday and although the swimming in the room seems to be shorter 2 seconds it is still there. Also before it has never affected my day to day living but this time I getting dizzy spells during the day. was at my doctor yesterday and he put me on Sturgeron 25mg tablets. i dont really want to take them cos they can make you drowsy. I also cannot drive or go to work this timr. i did ask my doctor could I have a brain tumour he said hard to tell these days but the fact that I have suffered from vertigo for so long he said if it were a tumour I would be long gone. Its the worry and the panic and anxiety. i do suffer from asthma. been put on a new inhaler three months ago and I was so happy with myself. Asthma has improved, blood pressure normal, anxiety diminushed and now this thunderbolt from the blue. sorry to go on and on but just wondering how long I can expect this bout to go on for and has anyone found those tablets any good and how long they take to work?

I had first attack in 2013, because I was in public trasport I just held myself hard on the seat and prayed I reach home. Reaching home I slept and following day I was OK. After 1 year it came back again when I had traveled to see my wife. I could try to sleep on the couch but I feel dizzy. I knew my wife had bewitched me so the following morning I was out of her house and gone. After like 2yrs it came with all its relatives. I had vertigo for like 7months. I was told I had heart attack, other doctors said it was stroke I had given up in life. However one cardiologist was not convinced and upon giving him my story that I even feel dizzy while asleep he sent me for hearing and balance check up and vola I was diagnosed with bppv. I was on betaserc for 3 months. Now I got used to it. It rocks me sometimes but I just move on with my work

It is a vertigo, as simple as that. It has happened from either INNER EAR INFECTION or GASTRO ESOPHAGUL REFLUX. The former case has no treatment and it is benign at the same time. The disease is called BPPV. The later one needs a care from Gastroentologist. You should consult both ENT and Gastroentologist at the same time. This has nothing to do with neurological issues. It's just that you are down on your immunity. You need regain it through exercise, hand-eye balance regain therapy (along with PMR related exercises). meditation and some healthy diet. Please do not panic. You are not going through any tumors or cancers. You have to train your brain to face these moments of vertigo. Things do get worse when we start panicking. Take few days off from your daily life. Stay close to your loved ones. Avoid studying books or magazines at night time. Don't stay awake late at night and do not oversleep as well.

Your GP should refer for an MRI to eliminate anything sinister, usually it is to eliminate an acoustic neuroma.  It you have BPPV this can be diagnosed with the Epley manoeuvre, as was mine.  Crystals in the ears will usually dissolve themselves after many weeks, but the Epley can also diagnose BPPV and move the crystals back to where they came from, unfortunately it never worked for me, but it did diagnose BPPV.  I also had silent migraines affecting my balance and medication helped.  Hope you get a diagnosis and then will know what you are dealing with and if there is any effective treatment.  All best wishes.
