Vertigo / vestibular migraine DVLA driving

Posted , 2 users are following.

Ok, so I suffer with vestibular migraines.

I have recently had to cone off all medication due to a long history of side effects.

Since coming off I actually feel much better.

In January I would like to start learning to drive again...I stopped before when my condition started.

If I was already driving I would have to declare it to DVLA I am just wondering if anyone has done this before....with a license and what the result was.

There is no point in me paying to learn and then having my license revoked.

I completely agree it should be if they feel I am.u for to drive but wondering what results people have had.

    Hi Emmy,

The DVLA will only want to know about your migraines if they produce symptoms of either dizziness or vertigo, and then, only if these episodes can be categorised as sudden, disabling or recurrent.

Also they will only want to be informed of current symptoms, so if you're no longer symptomatic you have no reason to trouble them.

I would think hard before declaring dizziness or vertigo symptoms to the DVLA, as although it's unlikely that your licence will be revoKed, your insurance premium will skyrocket, and given your status as a new and inexperienced driver, you may effectively price yourself out of the market.
