Very anxious about teeth and gums. Please help

I've had a period of gum disease and it has totally ruined my smile. I now have gaps in my teeth where there didn't used to be any, making me very self conscious. I always used to be so confident about my teeth and now they're ruined. The photos are of a couple of years ago and today. I'm so self conscious about the gap.

i dont know how you are set for money or insurance but dental procedures to fix that are common practice these days and relatively fast and painless. this is a problem you have total control over. if it bothers you that much, and makes you unconfident, get your teeth fixed at a dentist. until you do this, you are always going to have self doubt. implants or bridges are the way to go and you will be feeling your old self in no time.

wow, I was hoping my teeth dont look THAT bad, to need implants or bridges.

i am sure your teeth are not that bad. sorry if i gave you that impression. i cant see you so i can only go by what you said. i have implants and bridges and wear a night time retainer to keep my teeth from shifting. i have allergies so my teeth hurt quite often from sinus pressure. i understand about your confidence level and how important a smile can be. i feel the same way about my teeth. my point being, its totally up to you, which way you decide to go. i mentioned implants and bridges because i do not know the extent of your gum disease, and some people cant get their teeth fixed without treating the gums first, and may cause teeth to have to get pulled in many cases. sounds like you simply need a retainer or appliance to close the gaps. they have invisible ones now that no one can see and you wear it all day. and then you have the night time retainers like i have. so you have a lot of options to act on if you go see the dentist

you have nothing to worry about. your teeth look great, better than most i have seen. i would go as far as saying they are beautiful and you have a beautiful smile. relax, lots worse stuff in the world to be worrying over. i still dont see the gaps you are referring to and enlarged the pictures and looked very closely. i think its mainly in your mind and you are being overly obsessive with it, no offense. you look great, your smile looks great. you are a beautiful woman no doubt

yeah, again, they look great to me.
i think you're being overly self conscience about this. seriously. gums look great and teeth look great. you are the only one who notices anything. stop beating yourself up.

and they have retainers and appliances to close the gaps in your teeth as well

yeah, still dont see it. sorry. look just as good as the other pictures. i dont know what you are talking about. the gaps look no bigger than the width of a piece of dental floss. im lost. i wish my teeth looked as good as yours. i am envious. a lot of women would be envious too. i would tell you to go to the dentist and get an appliance to bring the teeth closer together, but i really think its a waste of money for you because your teeth are perfect as it is. but if you feel that strongly about it, then go for it.

Hi Ingabella, I think you have a beautiful smile and very nice teeth...if you have to be zooming in on a photo & explaining WHAT you see, that others don't...you need to stop being so hard on yourself & quit looking for things to feed your low self-esteem...NOBODY IS PERFECT...people focus too much on LOOKS, its what you DO, how you treat OTHERS, that are important....there are some really mean people in this world, that would be willing to pick you apart...YOU should NOT be one of them, they should be ashamed...You are beautiful as you are & anybody who disagrees, is not worth your time!! Keep your chin up, SMILE, & love living life!!💒🌈🐾🎶♾☮🍀💞😁

thank you so much for your kind comments. The truth of the matter is that I have gum disease and my gums are receding rapidly. Im so worried that I will lose my nice smile. Just in the last year there has been a huge change. Look how much less gum I have now ( pic 1) compared to last year (pic 2).....it makes me so anxious and depressed.

Hi Ingabella, Just be sure to do whatever your dentist tells you, keep up the flossing(there are kinds that are gentler on your gums)or even a water pick and brushing(a battery or rechargeable works way better) after you have dealt with the gum disease and healing takes place, if you are still upset by the way things look, ask what options you have...maybe things can get better or at least not get worse...Good Luck & Hopefully it all works out for you...BEST WISHES💒🌈🎶♾☮🍀💞🐾
