Very extreme saltiness

My hands are extremely salty. The palms, not the tops of my hands. The potency is so great it is as if I've poured salt directly into my mouth. I don't have this symptom anywhere else except very minimally on my face. But my hands are drenched and soaked with saltiness. My hands feel dry and slightly grainy, like as if I've stuck my hands in a barrel of salt. I can't get over how extreme the saltiness is.

Any idea why this saltiness is in the palms of my hands?

It could be a genetic thing. Does anyone else in your family have this ? Mum,Dad, brother, sister, even aunts, uncles or grandparents. Ask around.

It could be a reaction to constant anxiety.

Strangely it could even be a symptom of low blood sodium. How about asking your doctor to do a blood test.

I suppose low blood sodium could be a possibility. I'm estranged from my family but in general I don't think any relatives have the same conditions as me. I was always the oddball who didn't fit in. Anyway, when I was very young it was thought that I might have cystic fibrosis. I was checked but cleared of it and diagnosed with bronchial asthma instead. I had the saltiness symptom as a child, although not by my own observation. The mother made the observation and this is what landed me in the hospital for testing. I'm 45 years old though and so I'm sure if I had CF I would certainly know it by now.

The other thing I thought may be causing it is an infection in my lungs, on account of being a heavy smoker. I'm just baffled that this saltiness is in the palms of my hands.

No doctors for me. I have to rely on myself and God. Literally.

Thanks for the reply, Marina. I'll look into low blood sodium.

Yes, I know the link between CF and salty skin but I was sure if you had CF you would know. Old folklore used to say "woe is the child who tastes of salt" but that was before anyone knew about CF. Maybe your childhood bronchial asthma and your lung infection now may all be connected with the salty skin. Maybe although you didnt have full blown CF as a child you have developed the mild adult form. Its possible.

It could be a reaction to foods. But its most likely sweat issues. Its like urine, it can be more yellowy some days and more white other days. In context what your going through is the same thing. It also depends on diet and juices we consume.
