Just found out my calprotectin reading is incredibly high (1800), I am very scared and don't know what to do. Is this set in stone that I have IBD?

The are so many medical reasons that could be a reason for a high level but more test would likely be need before a full confirmation not by a reading alone when I was first told I had a reading of 1800 but my blood test results indicated inflammation markers of 347 after that result the did a camera test both and then was told I had colitis my advice would be keep a open mind and try stay calm untill they can confirm ibd there is many medical conditions the have to rule out ect few tests and I'm sure you will have a diagnosis

On May 15th, mine was over 2000. My GI started me on Prednisone 40mg, Uceris, Asacol 6 tablets a day, Turmeric, Uceris Foam Annema , Iron Pills . it took almost 5 weeks , before I turned it around . Pls don't wait . Have your GI start all these ASAP.

I don't put a lot of stock into that test. Mine was super low and suggested no issue at all and yet after my colonoscopy the doctor said that I had a Severe Crohns flare going on and I knew it because I felt terrible, so why this test was so innacurate in my case is anyone's guess, but I have never tested high, but I did test high on CRP a blood test that looks for inflammation. So maybe they need more than one test to figure it out. The only way they can tell if you really have IBD is due a scope of the colon and take biopsy samples. That is how they figured it out in me. If they had wen't by the stool test alone the doctor would have said nothing was wrong and I know that isn't true. My CRP might be high from something else, but it dropped as I got on my medicine. Two doses of Entyvio and It went down from 25 to 3 and that is normal for me.
