Very large ovarian dermoid tumour!

So I few months ago I started to notice that the lower part of my abdomin was getting a little bigger and firm. after a year or so of struggling with intestinal issues I chalked it up to constipation and took way too many laxatives( which didnt help the "ball" growing. After about a month of just convincing myself it will go away on its on, my friends started asking if I was pregnant. So off to the drug store I went to get a half a dozen tests. All came back negative. I finally went to my family doctor and as soon as I lifted my shirt she grabbed the fetal dopler because she too was convinced I had to be pregnant. But nope no heart beat heard but my own. She sent me for bloowrok the next morning and reffered me to have an ultrasound done. I didnt know at the time but she tested my CA-125 which I found out later is the "cancer marker" is what I understood. my number came back an 87. A normal number is around 12. So that is obviously freaking me out! I had the ultrasound a few days later and those results came back that it was a dermoid ovarian tumour. but it measures 11cm by 20cm and is still growing which I guess is insanely large. My doctor referred me now to an OBGYN oncology specialist and I will have to have a laparotomy to have the tumour and my left ovary removed. I guess I dont really have a specific question(s). I am just hoping to hear other peoples stories and maybe that will help me get through this. I am of course thinking the worst case scenario and everything I read peoples cysts are much smaller than mine and no one ever mentions cancer so I decided to write my own post.

Thanks!!!

Alexandra

    Hey

This is what I was worried out all I've had is a ct scan came back as adnexal mass cysts went to doctors and he's not bothered so leaving as that until a problem he will do something. Not even Doc has mentioned the c bomb or follow up

This site has helped knowing I'm not on my own

    Hi Alexander

Were you still having your periods or did you notice any other symptons besides the abdominal get larger?

i had nausea for months and weird stomach pains and bloating that my doctor said was probably just IBS. My periods seemed to come the same time every month. the only thing is that I would sometimes bleed a little again like a few days after my period finished. But I never thought anything of it
