Very low Iron levels

Posted , 2 users are following.

My sister had her bloods tested and this morning the doctor called her and said her Iron levels are so low and there is nothing he can do as he cannot give her anything to treat it be cause of making her constipated  . Luckily she is at the hospital this afternoon to see the consultant.

She has pancreas and ulcerative colitis and been bleeding from the back end for the last few weeks.

The doctor said her Iron level should be 200 and it is now at 11.

I am so worried and my sister is crying and believing she is dying. She keeps passing out and been feeling ill for weeks now and the doctors and hospital kept puting it down to her pancreas and ulcerative colitis.

Does anyone know what can help her??

Many thanks in advance for any help at all please......

Thank you so much for replying, Manda!

She cannot take any supplements because she also is having problems with ulcerative colitis.

The consultant said he will book her in for a day at hospital and infuse iron over a slow period back into her body.

Now it is the waiting game as when they do this rolleyes

Thank you so much for the prayers. I am a massive believer in prays and so is my sister. It really means a lot to know you were praying also.

Thank you again and God bless X
