Very small amount of bright red blood in stool?

Hi everyone!

So I noticed yesterday morning and this morning that I have a very very tiny amount of bright red blood in my stool. Only in one or two places. Yesterday I was on the phone with my doctors nurse and she told me not to worry and to just keep an eye on it. But, I have health anxiety so of course I googled it and it said it could be colon cancer. I’m almost 21 and I’m female and generally pretty healthy. Also it’s not painful when I go to the bathroom but I have been constipated lately. Also I’ve been taking iron tablets for a long time and read that that can cause rectal bleeding so I decided not to take them this morning. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Bright red blood in stool usually indicates a tear, if you've been constipated, you could have easily torn something. I agree, keep an eye on it, but internal bleeding usually causes black or almost black stools. At least that's what I've read.

    Hi Cassidy,

I could relate to your situation. It is very least chance that you have colon cancer , because if yes, the stool should be black , meaning internal bleeding . I experienced what you have, I was diagnosed with having Hemorrhoids, google what it is. It is caused by when you push too hard when you poop. The hemorrhoids could be grown outside or inside your anal.  No worries . It could be treated by medication or a minor surgery . Please make an appointment to see your dr. Take care

Hi Cassidy. Stop worrying you almost certainly have piles. Keep on taking your iron tablets but increase your fiber intake and drink plenty of water. You can buy pile cream over the counter to help. Stop worrying.

When you have to strain, that can cause tiny vessels to rupture which causes small amount of bright red blood in stool. That is normal.

Pits the dark red that we have to be more concerned about.  That can indicate internal bleeding.

Your constipation is most likely the cause.   Eat more fiber and drink plenty of water!

Get exercise. So you don’t have to strain.  🌸🌸🌸🌸
