Very, very high liver function test
Posted , 4 users are following.
HI,
I had my test results yesterday and the two test are 987 and 698, which is very high, mt GP has refered me to hospital but the have a 7 week waiting list. The GP says he has no idea of what is wrong, as I don't drink. I have a lot of stress because I am the main carer for my father and disabled daughter. 7 weeks is too much, without knowing anything, has any one got any ideas?

What tests did u take? Was it liver function tests and they were abnormal and that's why u were referred? Where are you from if u don't mind me asking? I only ask because I know in Michigan I had to wait 6 to 8 weeks after my blood work was done to go back to my GI specialist and discuss the outcome of the tests and if he was going to refer me to a major hospital for a transplant analysis. So perhaps ur doctor doesn't feel like ur in too bad of shape and that's why he wasn't pushing as hard for u to get seen right away?? Let me know if u need someone to talk to and I'll b happy to give u any insight I have lol although I must admit most of my knowledge is from very extensive reading books and reading blogs and websites ( please read from places like the mayo clinic or universities that deal with internal medicine) because sometimes people's stories can scare the crap out of u and u don't want to worry if u don't have to. Staying positive with keep ur health reasonable. Stress is bad for anyone and that includes liver cancer or liver disease patients or anyone with a severe medical problem!!! So write e if u need me! Good luck friend,

Thanks for the response.
I had AST and ALT the norms are 0-40 and 0-33 so I am way over those. I have done a lot of searching of the last couple of days, without much luck, so i thought I would try here.

Its so stressful and worrying I know.
You can try ringing the hospital, and ask if you could get in earlier.
Get in touch with your MP you can ring or write.
Alternatively you can possibly pay to see a specialist .if you are member of hospital fund you can get something towards the cost.
