Very worried ..... Symptons not good

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi everyone, this is my first post.

for years I have been bother with bowel troubles - running to toilet, constipation , cramps etc. I am a regular with my GP and four years ago I was referred to a specialist who did the camera test and all was clear except I had diverticular diease (they explained this shouldn't affect my life).

hiwever recently I have developed different symptons - bowel movements can be pellet like, sometimes I don't have a BM fir maybe 4 days the bloating is shocking. And I have abdominal pain in my lower pelvic area. Yesterday for example I went to the bathroom in the morning had a BM, by noon another quite large one and the cramps after were horrendous, I felt like I needed to go again but couldn't, then in the evening another one. The consistency of the Bm's was strange, thin, light coloured and all wee broken up pieces.

I only ever bleed from straining too much and this is on the toilet paper small spots, the size of pin heads, but I haven't bleed in months.

i then looked up things on the internet and saw an image of a colon cancer BM which looked like mine, I am now in a big big panic. I can't go to my GP as I'm for a specialist next week to see about general surgery as they think they need to do the camera test through my belly button.

please can someone advise or am I just jumping to conclusions.

thanks for reading xx

Hi.  I am sorry you are having such trouble and worry.  I cannot offer any advice on your conditions - but I just want to say I hope it is nothing serious.  Sometimes researching the internet can be a very dangerous thing because there will be conditions that share similar symptoms, and I think it is our nature to assume the worst when we see something in black and white that seems to match.  I really hope its nothing serious - I would still call your GP and at least have a chat - if nothing else he might be able to put your mind at rest.

I am recovering from a Right Hemicolectomy at the moment, where half of my bowel was removed.  For several weeks my BMs were perfectly normal and clockwork regular.  Suddenly they are frequent - 3-4 times a day - and desperatly urgent - I sometimes fear I won;t make it to the loo.  And it too is kind of like you say - very loose, very bitty and I have blood on the tissue, but in fairness I think this is due to a previous hemiroid surgery a year ago, that it has become irritated through all of this.  Our bowels can react to things in very strange ways - so do try not to worry yourself, until you are able to speeak to a professional.

Just wanted to lend you moral support - I know its tough waiting for an answer.

Keep us posted, and I am sure someone will be along with some more detailed answers for you.

Thank you for replying. I hope you are recovering well. After your surgery.

yes I am just going to see what happens. My only thoughts are I had the colonospy only three years ago so I would have thought something would have shown then, most reading on bowel cancer says it take 5-10 years to form

i shall go to my GP next week after my consultants visit and take it from there.

i just had a really bad day yesterday and will not be googling any more

hope all goes well in your recovery and best wishes

Its so hard NOT to Google!  I made myself wait - the reason I had my surgery was while undergoing what I thought would be a normal Appendectomy - they found a tumour in my bowel - and thats why O had the surgery.  Thank god it was benign.  But while I was awaiting the pathology results I refused to google and let me tell you - it took great restraint!!  :D  I just knew it would get me upset and I would jump to conclusions.  That of course is just me - we all know our own limits.  smile  I really hope you get good news.  Look after yourself and let us know what they find out.

Will do. My goodness you have done well and positive news on the surgery results.

i have aniexty too does not help!!

I never even thought cancer till I googled last night right side pain with bowel movements brought up pic's of cancerous BM - looked similar to mine, I nearly passed out. Now looking back at the web page it prob isn't the most reliable.

    Hi

Don't Google any illness. If you had bowl cancer trust me you'd be the first to know. I know your worrying but don't. The specialists know what they are doing. I once Google a headache & it was telling me I had all sorts of horrible illness. Don't be worrying. Like I said if you had any cancers cells even early stages they'd tell you. Your fine.

      Thank you for replying.

yes that's what I thought it is only three years since my colonoscopy and I would have thought something may have shown up then. I am only 34 so hopefully the chances are slimmer but I am hoping to get further with my consultants apt next week and get a few more tests done. I also suffer with aniexty which doesn't help too and prob upsets my stomach too.

thank you for your reassuring words xx

When my mother was told she had colon cancer 2013 (she is cancer free now)I did the doctor google & ended up I didn't sleep for 3 nights, with worry. I went to the specialist with my mum & learnt so much. It takes 10-15 yrs for a poylp to turn nasty for starters. I got screened & had a polyp removed I'm 42 (just gone). As for Aniexty. Due to diagnosis of my mum & playing doctor on the Internet & scared the wits out of myself, I woke up one morning with double vision REALLY scary. It faded out after 6wks but after bloods/mri & many tests, they said it was due to stress & Aniexty. That's how I came across the website & it's great. The specialist told me stress/aniexty can make you ill. Don't Google anymore I know I won't. He also told me not all information is relevant & is incorrect. Everyone is different & cancers are cureable IF caught in time. Let us know how you get on. Tip: breed slowly to relax yourself. Breed in for 4 counts & out for 8. Slowly. Take care X

Yes thank you, I am happier today after seeing this it takes 10 years plus for a polyp to develop, only 3 years since I had my scope.

im a dealing with my aniexty well at the minute a few months back I would have had a panic attack at this but today I'm quite calm getting in with my housework lol.

i think now a days we hear so much about illness it makes us always look for something too xx

I know & we do. But focus on yourself & how good you want to look @ 80. We hear all about people dying but hear nothing of all the new babies born. It's hard not to research but honestly the fine details of any illness is down to an individual. It's not one size fits all. Everyone is unique like fingerprints & no two people look the same. Don't be worrying & enjoy life. Go see the second marigold hotel, be inspired by the elderly their marvellous people & were brought up in tougher time. We have to much at our fingertips & to much knowledge of something we're not educated in & when we read stuff that we don't understand fully, well like me I worried myself sick. My tummy was all nervous & I was crying alot with worry. I've learnt so much & i ain't going back to that way of thinking ever again. Get stuck into your house work & remember, how you'll look when you're 80 lols X
