Vestibular migraine

Hi. I'm new to this site so apologies if this sort of thing has been covered.

approx 18 months ago I started feeling really dizzy & had problems with my memory and right hand (dropping things, unable to get a key in the lock). After seeing several doctors, a stint in hospital, an MRI scan & 4 months off work I was finally diagnosed with vestibular migraine. I tried several different medications before Amatriptyline which worked wonders at hiding the symptoms. I gradually came off those earlier this year and have felt fine until about 3 weeks ago and the symptoms have come back with a vengeance!! My gp put me back on the medication last week and I am starting to feel better.

i was hoping not to be on medication long term but does anyone know if this is likely to be the case? I would rather take medication than put up with the symptoms but don't want to be on & off them as this last few weeks have been a nightmare & caused me to take time off work again.

Thanks for reading

Your situation sounds very similiar to mine so thought I'd share what I've been trying which has been working. I have had the dizziness spells a couple of times and he discovered that I need to watch my salt/potassium intake. Drink lots of water. I keep meclizine tablets with me, aka Dramamine. I am also currently taking an herbal supplement containing butterbur, magnesium, B2, and 5htp. I hope you feel better soon and yes, it will pass.

I used to have to sit up on the bed for a few minutes before I could stand, and I couldn't climb stairs without passing out... I believe it is the b12 liquid form called methylcobalamin... NOT the cyanocobalamin!! and the folate... NOT folic acid, folate. I take a dropperful or two directly into my mouth of the b12 in the morning and same at evening. When I start to feel good for awhile, I back off the dose a bit, but start up again as needed. I also take cod liver oil pills, twice the recommended dose and vitamin E a few times a week. Eat you vegitables!! I got the liquid b12 at a vitamin shop. Do not sub for other forms of b12, I tried them and they don't work, at least for me. In fact, the sublingual gave me a headache.

I am no longer dizzy and I don't drop things like I used to... I didn't realize other people had that issue, too... I no longer have glass dishes, except what I put into the microwave. Never put plastic into the microwave.
